SOUPER RIVER - Based on this gelding's recent efforts, he should profit from today's shorter distance. When Moran and Buttigieg work together on horses the ROI has been terrific at +76. Earnings per start (EPS) is something that I think can be a key selection factor. This horse is ranked number one in this group.

With Walker Buehler and his 2.13 ERA on the mound for the Dodgers, the natural inclination is to look for a game that will hold Under the total, but did you know that the Over is 4-2-1 for Bueheler's last 6 starts and for the year the Over is 12-9-2 when he in on the slab.

Clearly, the Dodgers back Buehler with offense and that will be the case here on Saturday night when they face Taijuan Walker who has seen the Over go 6-1 for his last 7 season starts.

Walker has allowed 23 earned runs over his last 21 innings pitched and has also allowed 30 hits, including an alarming 10 home runs in this rough stretch.

After a series-opening Over last night in Queens, look for the bats to continue to make noise here on Saturday night at Citi Field.

My free play for tonight is the Arizona Diamondbacks against the suddenly slumping San Diego Padres, who have lost three in a row.

After closing out a homestand with a 7-0 loss to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, the Padres have been outscored by the Snakes 15-5 the last two nights in Phoenix. No reason to think anything changes tonight, as the Diamondbacks continue to roll.

They've now taken three of the last five against San Diego, after losing six of the first nine. The Diamondbacks have won eight of their last 13 at home, too. They'll settle in nicely against Padres starter Joe Musgrove. San Diego has lost four of his last seven starts, while he has a near 4-ERA over his last eight outings.

Last night Oakland's winning streak was snapped at 7 straight.

Even though they lost to Texas in the series opener, the A's are still a positive 3-1 the past 4 games played against the Rangers this month.

The Rangers are now just 2-8 over their last 10 games and while the offense showed signs of life last night it has been primarily missing in action for the month of August.

Oakland has still won 5 of the last 6 and 6 of the last 9 overall against Texas and I like them to bounce-back tonight.

James Kaprielian did just defeat the Rangers and Jordan Lyles in his last start and I see no reason to think tonight there will be a different result, as Lyles was tagged for 6 runs on 10 hits in his 5-plus innings worked that night.

The A's stubbed their toes last night, tonight they keep it rolling.
