That's an interesting thought. I can't remember him ever being taken down off the top of my head.

If Akiyama were to beat Shields it would be epic . . . and would be an incredible fall from grace for Shields. Nigga doesn't lose a fight for 6 years and reigns as both the EliteXC WW champ and SF MW champ, then comes to the UFC where he wins a split over Kampmann and then loses to GSP, Ellenberger and Akiyama.

Akiyama's standup is much better and he has 100% takedown defense in the UFC. Akiyama will come in as an underdog and fighting in his hometown... Let's not brush him off that quick LOL.

What is funny about this match up is that we were discussing future fights for Boetsch and I mentioned Palhares and you said Palhares was too far up the ladder for him right now...I kind of agreed with you, and now Boetsch is getting a top 5 MW BOL

In any case, Pettis should win that shit without a lot of trouble. He's a better striker and doesn't have the glaring sub-defense gap in his game that Guillard does.
