Analysis:

Marshall Thundering Herd (Point Spread) ... Southern Miss has actually done a very good job at not getting blown out this season despite their 1-7 record. Having said that, this is a bad matchup for them. Marshall have been heating up in recent weeks beating Louisiana-Monroe a week ago. Led by Sophomore running back AJ Turner, they've got one of the most lethal rushing attacks in the entire country. Turner is averaging 8.3 yards per carry on the road this season. Looking at the Golden Eagles a bit more closely, turnovers have been killer for this program. They've thrown 10 INT's this season while only throwing four touchdown passes. That's not what you want to see from a team that is very bad at running the football as well. Southern Miss just isn't the same team without Frank Gore Jr from last season. Don't get me wrong, Marshall doesn't have the best of defenses either. However, the Thundering Herd should improve on that side of the ball with USM averaging south of 18 points per game this year. The running game of Marshall will be the difference and they will win this game by more than two touchdowns this Saturday. Score Prediction: 37-16 Marshall

Analysis:

We like the Alabama Crimson Tide to defeat the Louisiana State Tigers on Saturday at 7:30pm ET for a number of reasons. Here are some of the more important ones: In our opinion so far, we believe that the Tide have had the much stronger schedule. Therefore, they've played more competition and will be ready for this game. Although it's been more even in recent years, Alabama has dominated LSU in since 2012. Since then, they are 11-2 against the Tigers. The loss against Vandy doesn't look good on their schedule. But, the Tide looked terrific in their last game when they beat Missouri 34-0. LSU is just 3-5 ATS over their L8 games played this season. The Tigers are also just 2-5 versus the spread over their L7 games played as the favorite. Bama has been at the top of the SEC for years now and we don't see them falling off and not making the playoff for the second time in three years. This is a must-win for each team. We'll go with the team that made the playoff last year who's playing better football right now. Lay the small number or play on the ML. Either is an option. AAA Sports

Iowa State vs Kansas prediction: Over 50.5

The Iowa State Cyclones are coming off their first defeat of the season against Texas Tech as they look to right the ship against a struggling 2-6 Jayhawks squad. Despite the optics of the matchup, the line has shifted several points with Kansas being only a +3 underdog at the time of writing. While Iowa State is the more talented team on paper and should win this one outright, I’ll be looking toward the total. The Cyclones’ offense has been incredibly consistent and well-rounded this season, ranking top-24 in both EPA/rush and EPA/dropback. KU ranks 97th in defensive success rate and has surrendered at least 29 points in 4 of its last 5 games.

On the flip side, offense has not been the issue for this Jayhawks squad. Kansas is averaging 31 points per game on offense over their last 5 contests and ranks 28th in offensive success rate. Iowa State’s defense has been rattled a bit in the past 2 weeks against solid rushing attacks, and the Jayhawks are no different. RB Devin Neal has been excellent this season and QB Jalon Daniels opens up the field with his dual-threat ability. With all things considered, both teams should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this one. I’ll take the over.
