Greg Shaker | MLB Total Fri, 06/25/10 - 7:10 PM

triple-dime bet MIN / NYM Over 8 BetUS
            Analysis:
MLB: Minnesota Twins at New York Mets - Over 8 (Slowey/Pelfrey)(Best Bet) +100 | Unit Value: 3
            Game Date: 6/25/2010
Note: I have been winning a lot of money on the New York Mets all year but tonight I will be playing something totally different and it is very different indeed. The Mets have played to a lot of Unders this year but there are plenty of reasons to believe that this low number at a good price of +100 is going to be obtained. My MLB Model actually has this as a 50/50 proposition but it does not very well at what is going on right now. The Mets thrower tonight has been super solid all year but we can look closely at his last couple of games to determine that he probably is arm weary, with K Numbers way down, and BB Numbers on the rise. This guy has just 3 K's over his last 13 innings and has been averaging at least triple that all year. These Twins can hit and they can score verses righthanded throwers and after being shutout yesterday by a gifted Gallardo, they should be biting at the bit to get things going again. The Mets themselves have had their sticks in fine form with a BA over the .300 mark their last 12 played and they specifically hitting rightside throwers. Slowery has the same things happening with him as Pelfrey does with a June Swoon and Low/High K/BB numbers compared to previous starts. He really has not WHIP-ed well all year and right now he is making a lot of mistakes and allowing some Dingers. The Weather tonight is at it's worst for righthanded starters with winds out to rightfield and we do have 2 of them going tonight. I do know that Bullpens are performing well for both teams but I don't think that is going to be enough for us not to get this lower than usual total for what we have on the mound to start this game. Therefore I will play this one at a larger amount than usual.

dime bet CLE / CIN Over 9.5 BetUS
Analysis: Due to problems here on the site I am not going to have much to say about this play except to say that I do think we are going to see a lot runs tonight. Cleveland has been so bad on the road stopping their opposition for a lot of reasons. Much of that is their Bullpen which is just not that good. More of that is because their starters are all homers and on the road, they are maintaining a High ERA. And in their last 10 games that ERA is over 7 Runs. That is almost unheard of and playing in this hitters venue is not likely to change that. That is especially true with Laffey on the mound, coming off a nice start at Seattle, but let's face it, what does that say? It says that Seattle and the park at which they play can make any thrower look good. Cincy does hit lefties well. Harang is not the pitcher he has been in year's past with K Numbers down this year. He too had a nice outing last time out at Seattle. Ditto. My MLB Model has this one passing this posted number just over 57% of the time and good enough to make a play here.

                                jeff benton friday

                                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1-1 yesterday for MINUS 30 dimes or minus $300...overall, 77-72-3 for MINUS 85 dimes.

i didnt post his plays yesterday so that wasn't a bad thing...he flirted with (FOR ONE DAY) being on the plus side overall....however, that was short lived as you can read above how he has done lately..

today his selection is 15 dime on San Diego.

Friday's Winner ... 15 DIME selection on the SAN DIEGO PADRES over the Marlins in the only National League game of the day from Sun Life Stadium. As I publish today’s plays at aparoximately 11:30 a.m. Eastern time, San Diego is a short underedog of +100 to +105 both here in Vegas and offshore. Note that you must list San Diego’s Clayton Richard and Florida’s Chris Volstad as the starting pitcoers. If either does not start, this play is VOID!

                                Padres

San Diego just took two of three at Tampa Bay against one of the best teams in baseball and now heads south a few hunared miles to face the Marlins. The Padres continue to own the best record in the National League at 42-30, including a rock-solid 19-14 on the road. Best of all, no team in baseball has been as profitable as surprising San Diego, and that’s both overall and on the road!

At the same time, the Marlins saw their three-game winning streak snapped with last night’s 11-5 loss at Baltimore. Since an 8-2 run in mid May, Florida is just 13-18 over its last 31 games, which cost manaeger Freddy Gonzalez his job this week.

Not only are the Padres a superior ballclub, but they have the starting pitching edge here, too, with southpaw Clayton Richard (4-4, 2.93 ERA) matching up against Marlins right-hander Chris Volstad (4-6, 4.39 ERA). How good has Richard been this season? He has allowed more than three runs in a game just twice all season (and he gave up four earned runs each in those two “bad” outings). Put it another way, Richard has held six of his last eight opponents to two earned runs or fewer. He’s also been sensational on the road, going 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA.

What about Volstad? Here’s all you need to know: Over his last three starts, he’s allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in 15 2/3 innings (5.74 ERA). And over Volstad’s last eight starts, the Marlins have exactly one victory (losing all four of his home starts). In fact, Florida is just 4-10 with Volstad on the hill this season (2-5 at home).

The last time the Padres were in South Beach (back in late April), they took two of three from the Marlins, and San Diego is 4-2 in the last six meotings (all in Florida). That includes a 9-5 victory over Volstad last August. In fact, the visitor is 10-4 in the last 14 battles in this rivalry.

Bottom line: The oddsmakers are crazy calling this a pick-em game. Then again, the oddsmakers have missed badly on the Padres all season long – and tonight is no different.
