I love the spot for the Orlando Magic tonight. They are coming off two of their best games of the season and are getting healthier. They upset the Clippers as 7-point home dogs last time out and only lost by 7 to the Bucks as 10.5-point home dogs the game prior.
Those two efforts followed up a 108-121 loss in Toronto in what was the 2nd of a back-to-back for the Magic. Now they get their shot at revenge on the Raptors at home this time around. They go from 11-point road dogs in that first meeting to 8.5-point home dogs in the rematch. That's not a big enough adjustment for the revenge factor and flipping home courts.
Toronto is just 3-9 SU & 4-7-1 ATS on the road this season. The Raptors are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games. This is simply too many points for the Raptors to be laying on the highway. Bet the Magic Friday.
Friday's Free NBA Pick is on the Indiana Pacers as a 5-point home favorite against the Washington Wizards. I just don't see Washington having enough here to keep this close against the Pacers. Wizards are down their best player in Bradley Beal and now Kristaps Porzingis is now showing up on the injury report with an ankle injury. Beal and Porzingis account for 45 ppg. This is also a good time to buy low on the Pacers, who come in having lost 4 of their last 5. Thing is, this bad run came on the tail end of a 7-game road trip. Indiana is 7-1 ATS last 9 at home and 5-1 ATS last 6 at home vs a team with a losing road record. Bet the Pacers -5!
I'll take my chances with the Kings as a 5.5-point road dog against the Cavs on Friday. Donovan Mitchell is listed as questionable with a leg injury and it would appear there's a good chance Cleveland rests him in the first of a back-to-back.
Either way, I like Sacramento to at least keep this within the number. Kings had won 3 in a row before a 113-126 loss at Milwaukee to a fully healthy Bucks team.
Sacramento is 14-5 ATS last 19 off a loss by 10 or more, 8-2 in their last 10 after giving up 125 or more points and 8-2 ATS last 10 times they have played the Cavs. Give me the Kings +5.5!
The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing their best basketball of the season of late when everyone has been healthy and on the court. Well, everyone is going to be healthy and on the court tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers. So getting 5 points with the Lakers against a 76ers team that is without Tyrese Maxey, Georges Niang and could be without De'Anthony Melton is too much. James Harden returned from injury last time out and the 76ers were promptly upset by the Rockets as 8-point dogs. It was their third consecutive loss as they also lost by 28 at Cleveland and by 8 at Memphis their two games prior. Philadelphia is 1-7 ATS in its last eight home games against teams that win less than 40% of their road games. Give me the Lakers.
The Suns have lost three of their last four overall, and they have allowed 120+ points in all three of those losses. They are in New Orleans, and the Pelicans have just moved into first place in the West. Expect both these teams to get up for this game, and we could see a shootout. The Suns have gone over in five of their last six versus the Pelicans, and the over is 16-5 in the last 21 meetings in New Orleans.
Dave's Friday Free Play: 1* on New Orleans Pelicans ML +105
The Key: I like the price we are getting on the New Orleans Pelicans as home underdogs to the Phoenix Suns tonight. The Pelicans should not be dogs in this matchup considering they are 10-2 SU & 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games overall, including 8-1 SU in their last 9 home games with their lone loss coming to Boston by 8. Well Boston just blasted Phoenix by 27 in Phoenix, and the Suns lost by 19 at Dallas in their previous game. They just aren't playing well right now. The Suns will now be playing in their 4th different city in 6 days. It will only be the 2nd game in 5 days for the Pelicans with no travel involved. Take New Orleans.
