    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

    Parx Racing - Race #4
#2 Visiting Angel Goes first off the claim, and while she's getting short on excuses after eight starts, she has some forward ability in a race lacking pace. Depending what the two firsters do, she might be able to find the front and get brave.
#7 Wham Bam Shrimp Debuter doesn't meet a whole lot in here, but the worktab is a bit spotty for my liking. Still, she won't have to be a star to make an impact with these.
#4 Angelsfour Michele She was never involved when trailing throughout that debut run, but it came for twice this price when she was bet to 4/5. Wondering if she's capable of better at an improved price today.
Race Summary Visiting Angel should be right up on the splits in a race that doesn't have much other sprint pace, and that advantageous race flow makes her interesting for the new connections.
    Parx Racing - Race #7
#10 Shpilkes Barn does good work with debuters overall, and his rider has done really good work from some limited turf route tries here in the past couple years. Nearly everyone else in here is going to have to answer a question of some sort, so this guy is worth a look at a square price.
#1 Kodapendent He looked like a different horse when adding blinkers last out, but my guess is he's a bit overbet while trying two turns and turf for the first time.
#6 Ruffy He has landed some underneath shares sprinting on the main, and he'll get blinkers for this turf stretchout try. Not impossible with the right trip near the top.
Race Summary Shpilkes goes first out in a spot where the main contenders are trying turf for the first time, so the fact that he's a debut wildcard isn't a huge concern. Demand something like the 5/1 ML offering.
    Parx Racing - Race #10
#13 Donji He'd need some scratch help to draw in, but the body of this field is pretty underwhelming, and he's a 7-time turf winner in a race with plenty who have not called this footing home. #14 Uhwarrie Sky also a threat if drawn in.
#2 Glamorous Thunder Two turns on the turf off the layoff is never the easiest of asks, but this mare is legit turf route speed in a race with some modest dirt route pace types. Some mild concern that she'll get hassled early, but she's tough here with the boys with the right trip.
#4 Factor This In He looks interesting enough, but he didn't run well in either of his two turf starts, and he's probably an underlaid price with these. Capable, but not for me.
Race Summary Donji and Uhwarrie Sky both have a claim on the top spot if they draw in, but Glamorous Thunder looks best of the body to me in this spot. She's solid on her best day, and her pace at least puts her in the game early with these.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      The Meadows - Race #4
#8 NEZBLANC Strong brush to command, held on, value remains in repeat try.
#1 PERTH ANGEL DE VIE Hit board in four straight from post 5 outward, draws rail.
#3 SWIZZLE HANOVER Trotted evenly from post 8, Wilder's choice on a double call.
Race Summary Nezblanc was on the aggressive for his new driver, made a second move to take command and desperately held on late to defeat some of the same rivals he meets again. Play an 8-ALL exacta.
      Saratoga Harness - Race #7
#4 MISTY MEMORY N Quick move, survived duel, edged clear at same level.
#6 LA ALWAYS AMARTINI Rallied to win 2 of last 4 at Plainridge, gets ideal set-up.
#5 BERAZZLED Steps up off popular victory, ran same time as 'Misty' on same day.
Race Summary Misty Memory N made a second-quarter burst, dueled outside the co-favorite through the final turn and drew away to her 21st victory. Like the way she built on her $100,000 bankroll, so we'll go with her again. Play 4-5 and 4-6 exactas.
      Northfield Park - Race #2
#6 PURE PETER Game third behind the favorites at Scioto, scratched from scheduled follow-up.
#4 VAN VLEK Lots of gaps between races but runs okay when he shows up.
#2 BRILLIANT BOB Controlled soft pace for second win in his last three starts.
Race Summary Pure Peter saved ground, moved around the pocket-sitter on the backstretch and gave willing chase behind the even-money winner when last seen a month ago. The Scioto Downs invader gets top call in this field.

        Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

        Indiana Grand - Race #1
#2 Rocky Rush Hasn't been able to get over the top since September but usually runs well enough to get a piece of the exotics; could get the jump on closers.
#3 Zanesville Won in the slop at Keeneland two races back and has won five of his last 10; always a solid player around two turns.
#4 Gambler's Fallacy Ran well in start allowance races at Oaklawn and usually has a good move in the drive for home.
Race Summary Rocky Rush can get a perfect trip and will be dangerous if he gets the jump on others coming from behind; usually in the ballpark and there's a good chance it can fall in line for him today.
        Indiana Grand - Race #5
#2 Peruvian Boy Didn't fire in a good sprint last time but won here in easy fashion two back; has travelled to various tracks and usually runs well. Gets only his second chance at turf but should be able to make the transition.
#3 Sharp Prospect Was well clear at the end of his only local start, which came on the turf last time; can carve out a good trip.
#8 Aztec Empire Has won three of his last four and runs well in two-turn races; gets on the turf in his fourth off the claim for Contreras.
Race Summary Peruvian Boy has kept some good company lately, should appreciate the additional distance and the grass under his hooves.
        Indiana Grand - Race #0
#1 Unbridled Beast Lacked any kind of late punch in his last two but put together three straight wins over this track and has won a couple of sprints here.
#2 Double Tuff Goes for his fourth straight win and five in six tries; is unbeaten in three since claimed by the Hammond stable for $25K. Won this race last year.
#5 Thatswhatithought Has the speed to be into the early mix here and was runner-up to Double Tuff in this last year.
Race Summary Unbridled Beast turns back from longer races, gets a stalking run behind a good pace and fits well.

            Play: Corinthians 0.0 (-111)
The Copa do Brasil, the Brazilian domestic cup competition, continues with plenty of action on Wednesday night. One of the matches features Corinthians looking to erase a 2-0 deficit against Atletico Goianiense on the road in Goiania after suffering a loss at home in Sao Paulo last week. Although Venezuelan midfielder Romulo Otero is missing due to international duty, there's still plenty of talent on board to try and pull back this result and advance in this second leg. Even on the road, expect Corinthians to be the aggressor and grab it as a straight bet to cover yourself with a push in the event of a draw.

              Date/Time: June 9, 2021 9PM EDT
Play: Chris Paul to go Over 15.5 Points -124
The Suns do almost everything well. You don't have to look hard to see what and who does what needs to be done, that mission-critical variable, that is underappreciated. Chris Paul has been called just about everything but a winner or a closer in his career. Truth be known most believe he has choked away past opportunities to shine in postseason play.
Paul is the invisible leader of this Suns group. He isn't looking for sound bites or a cameo on ESPN. He doesn't care what is said about his past playoff performances. He cares about, takes pride in, commanding an audience of four, his teammates His care, his TLC of the basketball, is as important as any peripheral in the Association and his assist to turnover ratio is the best among “The Points” that remain in the playoffs.
The first-year Phoenix Sun led the league in clutch-time scoring a season ago and he will be that player that leads the Suns in fourth-quarter shooting percentage and the all-important assist to turnover ratio late in games. The Nuggets didn't show it during the Portland series but they cannot, with the first rotation, spread their healthy player personnel and defend the perimeter at an elite level. Paul is an uber difficult matchup for a short-handed Nuggets backcourt.
Phoenix Suns vs Denver Nuggets Special – NBA Game Prop
Chris Paul (Points) (must start) Over 15.5 Points -124

                    Race 7 - Claiming - 440y on the Dirt. Purse: $14000 Class Rating: 71

QUARTER HORSE 440Y, FOR ACCREDITED LA BRED THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 126 LBS.; OLDER, 128 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $10,000.

                    RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                    # 1 MERICA 6/1
                    # 5 ZOOMIN DASH 7/2
                    # 6 GPF ONE SWEET PATSY 6/5
MERICA looks to be a solid contender. This animal has some longshot angles going for him. Looks competitive for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid figures in short races lately. I like the jock on this gelding - decent chance to win the outing. ZOOMIN DASH - Ought to be given a chance here on the basis of the figs in the speed section alone. Rubin has him trained solidly to break swiftly out of the gate. GPF ONE SWEET PATSY - A solid 77 avg Equibase class figure may give this filly a distinct class edge against this group of horses in this race. Recorded a very good speed fig last time out.

                      Emerald Downs - Race #4 - Post: 7:24pm - Maiden Claiming - 5.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $14,960 Class Rating: 77

                      Rating:

                      #5 OXBOW PARK (ML=7/2)

OXBOW PARK - This gelding should be in fine condition, this far into his form cycle. Couton and Toye perform well when they team up. It's hard to beat a +36 return on investment for a rider and trainer. Couton rode this entrant for the initial time last out and comes right back this time. Don't throw this horse out due to his last race at Emerald Downs where he ended up fourth on a sloppy track. Expect much better today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 COMMAND SGT MAJOR (ML=3/1), #3 WHIDBEY PRINCE (ML=4/1), #4 DOUBLE PERFECTION (ML=5/1),

COMMAND SGT MAJOR - The result of fourth in the last event shows me that this animal may be losing physical conditioning. This gelding hasn't had any positive outcomes in short distance affairs in the last sixty days. WHIDBEY PRINCE - Tough to bet on any horse like this that didn't end up on the board after the extended layoff and comes right back. DOUBLE PERFECTION - Not easy to invest in any thoroughbred in a sprint affair at 5/1 when he hasn't shown any positive results in sprints in the last couple months.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Play #5 OXBOW PARK to win if you can get odds of 1/1 or more

FOR REGISTERED INDIANA BREDS SIRED BY REGISTERED INDIANA STALLIONS MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS.

                        RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                        # 9 ROYAL ICING 5/1
                        # 5 PRESTO BENCH 4/1
                        # 4 BINGE 10/1
ROYAL ICING looks to be a very good contender. Could best this group based on the speed figure - 58 - of his last race. PRESTO BENCH - Has run quite well when running a dirt sprint race. Overall, this conditioner has been profitable at this distance/surface. BINGE - There is a decent chance that this entry's late pace will improve with second time Lasix. Will likely be one of the front-runners of the bunch going into the midpoint of the contest.

                          Thistledown - Race #8 - Post: 4:20pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,800 Class Rating: 69

                          Rating:

                          #8 CRAZYCANTBERIGHTED (ML=9/2)

                          #3 OHIO MUNNY (ML=4/1)

CRAZYCANTBERIGHTED - Berrios is back for another race today after racing atop this horse for the 1st time on May 17th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. Gelding shipped to this track and won; now goes for two in a row. The recent rating of 61 is the highest last race speed figure in the bunch. CANT BUY COOL - I like to bet on this angle, a racer coming back off a sharp race within the last 30 days. BEARPATH - This gelding is rounding his way back into shape. Should run well today. OHIO MUNNY - You'll be making money right and left by turning your gambling cash onto this rider/handler combination. The race may set up nicely for this gelding's strong late move. Gelding is a few starts into a comeback here. Should give a big race today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 TAPAWAY (ML=5/2), #6 TRUEST OF THEM ALL (ML=8/1),

TAPAWAY - 5/2 odds isn't enough for this horse when scrutinizing the most recent efforts. A runner should have more speed at 1 mile to give me hope about his likelihood of winning at 6 furlongs. TRUEST OF THEM ALL - I can't play this repeated non-winner. Gets the task done now and then. He showed not much at all in the last event.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Put your money on #8 CRAZYCANTBERIGHTED on the nose if you can get odds of 5/1 or more
