Al Cimaglia: Hawthorne Racecourse Late Pick 4 Analysis

    June 19, 2020 | By Al Cimaglia
Hawthorne Racecourse has 13 races scheduled with the 0.50 Late Pick 4 starting in Race 10. The sequence has a $10,000 guaranteed pool and will be my focus.

Comments and selections below are based on a fast track.

    Race 10

1-Over Speeding (5/2)-Comes off a sharp win from the 9-hole and fits with this group. Has recorded 8 lifetime wins and 7 pictures have happened in Stickney. Should be in the mix from start to finish.
5-Blue Gem (4-1)-Franco takes the lines as Bates is back at HoP. Did go a 57.1 back half in a 6/7 qualifier. Should like the company if fires hot off the bench. Herrera has had them ready to roll.
6-Party Belle (7-1)-There have been excuses in both local starts. Gets post relief and did race a 56.3 back half last week. Could be sitting on a big try at a square price.

    Race 11

2-Lucky Crusader 5/2-Veteran is trip dependent, tonight Husted takes a spin and that is a positive driver change. This is soft spot and will use but will also consider others.
3-Major Legacy (5-1)-Odds on winner was bet like the race was already run and didn't disappoint. This field isn't out of reach and price will be better.
7-Ricky Bobbie (3-1)-Nice effort versus a strong winner from the 10-hole last week. Now Leonard steers and Trashytonguetalker isn't in the mix, best to respect.
8-Uncle Si (5-1)-If pace is hot Si can pick off a few down the lane, so will use and hope for a nice price.

    Race 12

3-Yankee Bounty (3-1)-One time class horse drops to a spot to shine. Doesn't often win these days but did roll the 2nd half in .55 in 1st start of the meet versus better.
4-Rebel Rouser (8/5)-Owns a 150.2 mark at PcD and will probably be bet hard. Doesn't offer any value, will use but look to beat. Not sure the long stretch at Haw helps his cause.
6-Rockin Robert (12-1)-Barn is 0-5 but qualified well. Looks like a worthwhile price shot and knows how to race on a mile oval.

    Race 13

3-Dinky Dune (7/2)-Will toss last from the 9-hole, broke poorly and pace was dull. Did come the 2nd half in 56.1 and could take a picture if #5 doesn't have his fast ball tonight.
5-Dakota Roadster (6/5)-0-10 in 2020 but in a new barn which has won 2 of 8 since the restart. Many will single the morning line chalk as this is a soft spot. Gets a ++ driver change in Todd Warren and this could be "go" time.

    0.50 Late Pick 4

    1,5,6/2,3,7,8/3,4,6/3,5

      Today’s Day Makers:

Belmont Park – 9th race. Post time 5:36 ET.

      4 – Guildsman (7/2)

Been the victim of two troubled trips to kick off his U.S. campaign but with a clean break and clear sailing today this talented gelding should be capable of producing a winning late kick. Lost all chance at the start in his North American debut when he broke poorly when winding up third in listed stakes at Gulfstream Park in the March, and then had a nightmarish journey (steadied repeatedly in traffic and then took hold too late) in a Churchill Downs overnight turf dash last month. Was good enough as a 2-year to hit the board in two group stakes races (including a close third of 17 in the Coventry S.-G23 at Royal Ascot), so he certainly won’t be outclassed in this spot. We also like the switch to the aggressive L. Saez, so at 7/2 on the morning he’ll offer value both in the win pool and in rolling exotic play.

      RACE 1: Post 1:00 PT. Grade: B
      Use: 3-Eastern Ocean; 5-Tapitution; 6-Lane Way

Forecast: The Friday opener is a challenging maiden turf miler with several legitimate possibilities. We’ll hope to get by using just three in our rolling exotics. Lane Way has much going for him and is strictly the one to beat. Third in all four of lifetime starts but with strong speed figures, the blinkers off angle that we like, and with the powerful R. Mandella/F. Prat team in his corner, the son of Into Mischief is unproven on grass but there’s no reason he won’t like it, or at least, handle it. Exiting a series of powerful races won by the likes of Nadal, Charlatan, Shooter’s Shoot and most recently Ka’nah, the $550,000 OBS auction purchase may not be able to defeat a really good colt, but there may not be one in here. Eastern Ocean took a step forward with a solid runner-up in a similar affair over this course and distance last month and with just three career outings probably has room for improvement that most of the others don’t. The son of Stormy Atlantic lands a favorable inside draw and should be close up throughout and have every chance. The newcomer Tapitution is worth including on a least a ticket or two. The B. Baffert-trained colt has done some promising work in the morning for a barn that hits with a remarkable 29% with debut runners, and this son of Constitution, a $350,000 OBS March purchase last year, has trained like a colt that will appreciate being held up early and allowed to run late, the kind of ride he’s likely to receive from M. Smith.
      *
      *
      RACE 2: Post 1:30 PT. Grade: B
Use: 3-Real Good Deal; 6-Sindy’s Revenge

Forecast: Phoenix invader Sindy’s Revenge, away since February, has been training locally for at least two months and should be plenty fit and ready to show her best stuff in this six-runner restricted (nw-2) $12,500 claiming sprint for fillies and mares. She removes blinkers for new trainer B. Heap, lands the cozy outside draw, and earned a speed figure in her debut two runs back that is par for this level. With the proper stalking style for this extended sprint trip, the daughter of Slew’s Tiznow should have every chance to regain her winning form. Real Good Deal is slower on numbers than Sindy’s Revenge but ran well at this level two runs back when missing by a neck, and not much more will be needed to make her the one to fear most. She projects to settle in the second flight just off the speed and then have dead aim from the quarter pole home. Both should be included in rolling exotic play with preference on top to Sindy’s Revenge.
      *
      *
      RACE 3: Post 2:00 PT. Grade: B+
Use: 2-Still in the Game; 9-Tiberius Mercurius

Forecast: Tiberius Mercurius is poorly drawn outside in this maiden turf miler for older horses but if he can drop over, get some cover, and negotiate a decent trip, the New York invader should be able to produce a winning late kick. His East Coast numbers are strong and his local work tab for new trainer J. Sadler contains several excellent drills that indicate he’s fit, ready, and probably improved. With excellent turf jockey U. Rispoli (a very live rider for this outfit) taking the call, we’re expecting this year-old colt to be a long in time. Still in the Game should be the controlling speed from his inside draw, and when the rails are up (they are today at 20 ft.) this type of trip gets strongly promoted from what we call the “jet stream effect”. If not pressured early, the son of Uncaptured should take this field a very long way. Both should be included in rolling exotic play, with the main push going to Tiberius Mercurus.
      *
      *
      RACE 4: Post 2:30 PT. Grade: B
Use: 6-What’s Up Surfer; 7-Touchdown Brown

Forecast: Touchdown Brown sports a :47 flat gate work (fastest of 28) over the local main track that certainly catches the eye and his previous (slower) works were visually impressive just as well. This son of Cairo Prince looks fit, ready, and good enough to handle juvenile abbreviated sprint assignment, thought at 9/5 on the morning line he won’t be offering a huge amount of wagering value. What’s Up Surfer is another one of those San Luis Rey Downs-based shippers for the F. Prat/P. Miller team, and with a bullet half mile gate drill (:47.4h, fastest of 10) last week showing on his resume the son of Surf Coat is certain to get plenty of play. We’ll include him on a ticket or two, but the main push in our rolling exotics goes to Touchdown Brown.
      *
      *
      RACE 5: Post 3:03 PT. Grade: B
      Use: 2-Fengari; 3-Sly; 5-Most Sandisfactory

Forecast: This maiden $40,000 grass miler for older horses appears to have three main players with Fengari the logical top pick after finishing a strong runner-up vs. slightly tougher over this course and distance last month. Draw nicely inside that will guarantee an ideal ground-saving, stalking trip, the J. Sadler-trained gelding shows an easy training track drill last week to tick him over and in what will be his third start off the layoff the son of Artie Schiller should be set for a career top effort. The first-time routing Most Sandisfactory is intriguing. Both of his prior grass outings in Kentucky were quite solid, though he’ll have to improve a bunch in the speed figure department. The P. Miller-trained gelding, second in a dirt sprint in his local bow last month, has every right to step forward with the stretch out in trip and the return to turf, and if he wants to be he’ll probably inherit the role as the controlling speed. Sly, second off a layoff for R. Mandella (superior 23% with this angle) and exiting a productive dash, should put that tune up to good use at this mile trip and has a Beyer speed figure over this course last year that would probably beat this field. The Orb gelding has been a disappointment so far in his five race career but continues to train well and should be able to at least get a piece of it.
      *
      *
      RACE 6: Post 3:34 PT. Grade: B+
      Single: 6-With Due Cause

Forecast: With Due Cause finished a promising third with a less-than-ideal trip (a slightly slow start and a very wide trip throughout) in a productive affair and seems very likely to produce a significant forward move in this maiden special weight Cal-bred sprint in his second start off a layoff and just third outing overall. The son of Creative Cause earned a decent speed figure in that race, retains F. Prat, and shows two solid five furlong drills at Los Alamitos in the interim to keep him on edge. We’re anticipating a nice stalking trip from his cozy outside draw in a race in which the speed types are suspect, so at 4-1 on the morning line we’ll make him a straight play and rolling exotic single.
      *
      *
      RACE 7: Post 4:12 PT. Grade: B-
Use: 3-Smiling Annie; 7-Harper’s Gallop; 10-Loud Loud Music

Forecast: Here’s a treacherous turf sprint for entry-level allowance fillies and mares that requires a spread in rolling exotic play. Loud Loud Music was a visually pleasing winner of a maiden turf sprint at Golden Gate Fields last month, doing so with a speed figure that should make her competitive in tougher affair. We’re not crazy about the extreme outside post but the daughter of Tizbud should be quick enough to get over a secure a comfortable pace-stalking position. Harper’s Gallop, fresh from a game win in a restricted (nw-2) $25,000 claiming mile turf affair, has been routing most of her career but could very well enjoy this turn back to a sprint. She earned a career top speed figure in her last race and can score right back with a similar effort despite this raise into the first-level allowance condition. She projects to be on the lead or in a stalking position outside; in either case the J. Carava-trained filly should have every chance. Smiling Annie is wheeled back in six days after winning a four-runner dash over this course and distance with an easy trip as the controlling speed. She’ll have to work a little harder today but in her present form must be given a big chance right back, especially if she’s quick enough to secure another front-running trip.
      *
      *
      RACE 8: Post 4:42 PT. Grade: C
Use: 3-Malakai Moxie; 4-Grazed My Biscuits; 6-Hot Socks

Forecast: Anything goes in this maiden $50,000 claiming state-bred sprint that drew six runners. Malakai Moxie has F. Prat and numbers that can win, so he’s the default top choice. An eight-race maiden without a definitive style (not a speed horse, not a closer), the P. D’Amato-trained colt shows up in a seller for the first time and should greatly appreciate the class drop. Hot Socks has a right to be fitter and sharper today in his second off a layoff following an okay runner-up effort in a similar affair last month. He’ll need a boost in the speed figure department but is assured a soft pace-stalking trip outside, so we’re expecting a forward move. Grazed My Biscuits is a first-timer from the P. Miller barn with a recent good gate drill (5f, 1:00.1hg) that catches the eye. How good does he have to be? Let’s try to survive and advance using just these three in race that is probably best left alone.
      *
      *
      RACE 9: Post 5:12 PT. Grade: B-
      Use: 2-Cheerful Charm; 3-On Mars; 4-Rockie Causeway

Forecast>: The finale is a maiden turf miler for state-bred fillies and mares with a logical contender (On Mars) and two sneaky first-time starters (Cheerful Charm, Rockie Causeway) that warrant closer inspection. On Mars, a recent runner-up over this course and distance vs. similar while earning a career top speed figure, may not have to improve to earn her diploma against this group. Most effective when held up early and allowed to run late, the daughter of Vronsky retains M. Smith, and with good racing luck and any kind of help up front she should be hard to contain in the final furlong. Cheerful Charm has looked okay-to-decent in her morning preps for D. Blacker and absolutely should fit well in this spot. Certainly bred to run long on the lawn (Boisterous), she debuts with the barn’s go-to rider (U. Rispoli) from a favorable inside draw and will likely settle early and take hold late. The stable hardly ever wins with a first-timer but this sophomore filly may prove to be the exception to the rule. Rockie Causeway, by Giant’s Causeway from multiple stakes winner Private World, has been preparing at San Luis Rey Downs for a few months and shows no less than three bullet workouts since early May to indicate ability. With F. Prat taking the call, the R. Baltas-trained filly is simply a “must use.”

        #4
        Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

        Belmont Park - Race #3
#9 Bears Mafia Class dropper didn't fire over a inside speed track ere 15 days ago, but that was an extremely fast race for the level, behind a Lone F, and it gives him a huge recency edge on these; look out.
#4 Call the Cat Deep closer doesn't have any speed at all but catches a group with some early, lick, and while his form is hit or miss, his figures actually fit nicely with this modest group; will be rolling late.
#7 Other Things Equal Underlaid favorite didn't an inch in the slop for 50k off the Asmussen claim from Brown in Feb., never made it back before the suspension, and now plummets in class; not the best of signs.
Race Summary You won't get rich on the 9 but he sure does catch a group there for the taking, and the fact he's already got a return run is huge, not to mention that the 7 looks like a mighty dicey proposition, so play the pick aggressively to win and place, while getting some added value by singling him in the early Pk5/Pk4 as well, since he won't be favored, which means a win over 'Equal will knock out a lot of tickets.
        Belmont Park - Race #8
#9 The Caretaker Closer was in fine form this winter for Rodriguez and now goes off the Morley claim, and while that's just 1-for-21, this field has a ton of speed, which will set him up; love his chances.
#6 Summer Bourbon Stalker ran here 12 days ago, so he has a big edge on most here, and he'll get first run on the pick too, not to mention that was a tough group of open 40k's he just faced; big chance.
#1 Eye Luv Lulu Unappealing ML favorite is just 3-for-22 here and leaves Jason Servis to go to Atras, who is sharp, but getting away from that barn, and this post too, sure won't help; making him prove it.
Race Summary Pace makes the races and there's just a ton of it here, on the inside too, to flatter the chances of the 9, while hurting those of the 1, as well as the (unmentioned) 2 and 3, so play the former aggressively to win and place, and in the late Pk5/Pk4 as well, since he should be around that 4-1 ML, which would be plenty of value in a spot like this.
        Belmont Park - Race #2
#1 Astoundment Price player came off the long break to be a close 5th at GP, in a race that saw the 3rd-place finisher comes back to win, and off that, with a perfect post, there's reason to think this miss oves forward in a big way, in a race where the favorites aren't any great shakes; upset special.
#2 All Others Follow The expected heavy favorite will be bet hard for Brown off the wide 3rd on debut at Tampa, but she was 6-5 that day and didn't run fast, or all that convincing, and this is the big leagues now, so taking a very short price, with no margin for error, just doesn't inspire; backwheel time.
#7 In Front Tricky read had it going pretty good in NY then didn't fire as the chalk at GP in January, so the return to the Empire state could wake her up, and Jose Ortiz is here, but that was a really poor run with no visible excuse, and you won't get a fair price to come back today; tread lightly.
Race Summary There's a lot to like on the 1, especially since the 2 is no faster than her on paper and both have a lot of upside, so give the pick a look in all the slots, and especially the early Pk5, ans to kick off the early Pk4 as well, since a win would go a long way in knocking out a ton of tickets, since she's likely to be completely ignored in both sequences.

          Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

          Santa Anita - Race #1
#9 Macedonian Ruler Knocked on the door in those synthetic tries and has a big pedigree for the turf. He gets Lasix for his 5yo debut and may offer a square price.
#4 Frasard Had a couple of excuses for some races earlier this year, but he seems likely to find another horse or two that are too good for him again today.
#3 Eastern Ocean Took a nice step forward on the move around two turns last out, and he's got a bullet work to his credit since that run.
Race Summary Macedonian Ruler makes the turf debut today in a winnable spot, and his pedigree hints that the new footing shouldn't hinder him too much.
          Santa Anita - Race #3
#1 Cosmo Ran a really dull one last time out, but something like his two-back effort might be good enough to get the job done at an improved price today.
#9 Tiberius Mercurius Major threat in here, but he has a tendency to settle for underneath slices even when in position to score, so I wouldn't want any kind of short number to land here.
#5 Much More Halo Blinkers off for this move back around two turns, and he was just second to a very well-meant winner going short last out.
Race Summary Cosmo has some room to bounce back off a non-effort last time out, but he can get a decent trip from midpack while looking for something better.
          Santa Anita - Race #9
#9 Bella D Doesn't meet a ton of other pace in here, and she may be able to stick around better with that first route trip under her belt.
#3 On Mars Price probably gets unreasonably short in here, and her form doesn't tower over the rest of these. The one to beat, but worth looking around.
#7 Rose's Crystal Finisher might be able to pass some tiring horses late, and she'll be the right kind of price to try to get in the underneath spots in the gimmicks.
Race Summary Bella D probably makes a break for it from the gate with these, and she stuck around well enough last out after setting the pace.

            Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

            Meadowlands - Race #4
#6 MANCHEGO Had plenty in reserve in smashing comeback score, today’s Best Bet.
#4 ATLANTA Speed to burn for 2018 Hambletonian winner.
#7 FELICITYSHAGWELL S – Second to Manchego in qualifier for U.S. debut.
Race Summary A pair of champions with a combined 48-83 record and $4 million in earnings collide. Manchego gets the nod off an effortless 1:50.3 victory in her seasonal debut, though Atlanta appears plenty ready off a pair of double-digit qualifying romps.
            Meadowlands - Race #6
#7 DAYTONA DREAMIN Held up in traffic, better than latest appears, must use on all tickets.
#3 PATRIARCH HANOVER Rallied for third from post 8 in return, can use his speed well in this spot.
#2 CHESTNUT HILL Plenty of thirds on resume, moves outside in.
Race Summary Daytona Dreamin started from post 10, lacked running room until the stretch and finished with a rush between rivals, earning a playback at an inviting price tonight. Play 7-2, 7-3 and 3-7 exactas.
            Woodbine-Mohawk Park - Race #10
#2 LIVELY ROCKET Won four in a row at Flamboro, left too much work to do in return here.
#1 YNOTHOS Swept to command on final turn, stayed on willingly despite tiring late.
#7 MISS ROCKADALI Finished second in five straight, mostly from outer posts.
Race Summary Lively Rocket trailed turning for home, swung and drifted extremely wide and got beat 1-1/2 lengths against similar rivals. She makes her second start for a high-percentage barn, so play 2-1 and 2-7 exactas.

              #7
              Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

              Santa Anita - Race #1
#2 Tallien Not only did he run 4th in his 1st U.S. start, he did so with 14 months off. Improved position against a very slow pace. Had a light maintenance work since then and can be expected to improve.
#3 Eastern Ocean Made a solid run at the leader and came up less than length score; makes 3rd start for red-hot Glatt barn (33 percent) and fits very well here.
#8 Munnings' Pilot Ran evenly in a good turf sprint in his 1st start and should improve with distance; has worked very well for his 1st since February.
Race Summary Tallien was up against a slow pace and failed to rally in his 1st start on this continent; a faster pace is in order here and he should be able to make a strong run late in the game.
              Santa Anita - Race #7
#7 Harper's Gallop Comes off a courageous gate-to-wire score going a mile and should have no problem in cutting back to 5.5F; likely a stalker today.
#10 Loud Loud Music Brought her best to date and scored going 5F at Golden Gate Field; has the speed to overcome the outside post and could dig in on the front end.
#3 Smiling Annie Was a clear winner last out and will battle on the front end; has the talent to fit nicely with these and is ultra-tough going this distance.
Race Summary Harper's Gallop should have no problem in turning back in distance and after the win going a mile can finish well in this sprint.
              Santa Anita - Race #9
#5 Too Hot for Curlin Has embraced turf racing lately and it has turned around her form; came on well for a 3rd last time and can get a good pace set-up here.
#3 On Mars Seems to have found her new thing in turf racing; finished with interest for the runner-up spot in his last two and will be one to look for late in this one.
#4 Rockie Causeway Has a long string of works for her career debut and the Prat-Baltas is 3 of 4 together in the past two weeks.
Race Summary Too Hot for Curlin has improved in each of her last three races -- all on turf. A continuation of that improvement can land her in the winner's circle. Long overdue for a win and it looks like the time is right.

LIDO KEY is the best wager in this competition and the potential return justifies the dangerous nature of the long odds. Could best this group of horses based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 96 - of her last race. Should keep the good string of finish positions intact today. SMOOTH WITH A KICK - Has run admirably when travelling a turf route race. With a very good 91 Equibase Speed Fig last time out, will definitely be a factor in this race.

                      Charles Town - Race #8 - Post: 10:32pm - Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $11,000 Class Rating: 73

                      Rating:

                      #6 SILVER CASTLE (ML=10/1)
                      #8 ORACLE OF OMAHA (ML=9/5)
                      #10 TRUE HEIR (ML=6/1)

SILVER CASTLE - Multiple wins in this horse's life, all at Charles Town. Could add another win right here. ORACLE OF OMAHA - Bocachica's agent must enjoy anytime Runco gives them a mount; win pct together is terrific. A horse coming back this quickly after a strong race is a good sign. TRUE HEIR - This horse's last race was out at Charles Town in a race with a class figure of 81. Dropping drastically in class figure this time puts him in a solid position today. Don't often see a lucrative ROI like +389. This jockey/conditioner twosome has done well together over the last twelve months. This one could be an overlay right here at M/L odds of 6/1. Finished fifth in last race at Charles Town but was close at the end.

                      Vulnerable Contenders: #4 FIREBIRD (ML=3/1), #13 MAKEMIE PARK (ML=5/1), #2 SUNBRIDLED (ML=8/1),

FIREBIRD - This thoroughbred just hasn't looked fit recently. The speed fig last time out doesn't fit very well in this event when I look at the class figure of today's affair. Mark this horse as a vulnerable contender. MAKEMIE PARK - The 'grizzled' veterans will probably defeat this young horse today. SUNBRIDLED - This less than sharp equine hasn't been coming close at the finish line of late.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SILVER CASTLE - When a beautiful animal takes such a big drop in the class figure department, I always have a look-see. I like what I see with this one and am making a wager on him.

                          Race 1 - Maiden - 300y on the Dirt. Purse: $10500 Class Rating: 74

QUARTER HORSE 300Y, FOR REGISTERED NEW MEXICO BRED MAIDENS, THREE, FOUR, AND FIVE YEARS OLD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 126 LBS.; OLDER, 128 LBS.

                          RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                          # 8 RED BANDANA DWM 9/2
                          # 7 DIVINA CORONA 15/1
                          # 6 REGARDS TA FLYIN 7/2
I've got to go with RED BANDANA DWM. Could provide positive profits based on very good recent speed figures with an average of 67. Posted a strong Equibase Speed Figure in the most recent race. Can run another good one in this race. DIVINA CORONA - This filly looks strong for this event since Gomez has a strong winning percentage with horses going this distance. Is a solid choice - given the 69 Equibase speed fig from her most recent race. REGARDS TA FLYIN - Has to be given a chance versus this group displaying very good numbers as of late and an average Equibase Speed Fig of 71 under similar conditions. Tough to pass on this gelding with Hernandez in the saddle.

                            Stronach 5 - Race #1 - Post: 3:41pm - Optional Claiming - 5.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $48,000 Class Rating: 88

                            Rating:

                            #2 SONG RIVER (ML=5/1)
                            #7 SWIRLING CANDY (ML=2/1)
                            #13 BIBIANA (ML=4/1)
                            #3 MANE ATTRACTION (ML=20/1)

SONG RIVER - I'm optimistic this filly will run well today. Last work was 2nd fastest of the day, which tells me she's sharp right now. This horse has recorded the best recent turf speed rating at the distance-surface. Clearly didn't like the surface of the last contest as much as two starts back on the grass. Watch out today for a return to a sharp race. SWIRLING CANDY - Looking at this filly's running lines, I see she's almost always in-the-money. Notched a nice turf figure on May 29th at Gulfstream Park. A repeat in this race, and this one has a great shot to win. BIBIANA - Camacho's agent must relish anytime D'Angelo gives them a mount; winning percentage together is tremendous. After the affair aboard this animal on Jun 5th, the jockey is going to 'know' the filly much better. I have to like this filly's chances at the shorter trip. Have to make this filly a solid contender; she comes off a sharp race on June 5th. MANE ATTRACTION - I am keen on that latest race on May 24th at Gulfstream Park where she finished first.

                            Vulnerable Contenders: #10 SOLID AS A ROCK (ML=7/2), #9 POSEIDON'S PASSION (ML=4/1), #11 TONY'S ROSE (ML=9/2),

SOLID AS A ROCK - Really don't think the last rating was attained legitimately. The wet track may have lead to such a high rating. POSEIDON'S PASSION - 4/1 is not worth the risk for any animal in a sprint of 5 furlongs that hasn't hit the board in a sprint affair of late. Recorded a disappointing speed fig in the last race in a non-classified race race on May 29th. Not likely to see an improved performance off of that figure. TONY'S ROSE - This filly raced well above average on May 29th finishing second, but hasn't even visited the track since then. Not really a good sign. Looked like she may have had some physical problems when she ran on May 29th.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Play #2 SONG RIVER to win if you can get odds of 4/1 or more
