Tricky spot for Temple on the road tonight against conference-rival East Carolina.

Yes, the Owls are fresh off a dominant performance against Georgia Tech and their old coach Geoff Collins who spent the previous pair of season's as the Cherry and White head coach, Temple taking it 24-2 for make it a 3-1 straight up and against the spread start to the year.

East Carolina meanwhile, notched their 3 win of the season on Saturday when they won at Old Dominion 24-21. The 3 wins for the Pirates under first year coach Mike Houston has matched the ECU overall win total for the past 3 season's under former coach Scottie Montgomery. Among the losses the Pirates absorbed under both Montgomery and Ruffin McNeil are 5 straight setbacks to Temple, as the Owls have thoroughly dominated East Carolina, as they have won the last 3 by 24 points or better, and they have covered in all 5 wins too.

That dominance begs the question then as to why the line on this game is coming down instead of going up on Temple?

QB- Anthony Russo had a highlight-reel game last season against ECU - 21-of-25 for over 250 yards passing and 4 touchdowns, but Russo's completion percentage has declined in every game this season, so perhaps there is enough room inside of this double-digit impost for the Pirates to make a game of it in front of the home crowd this Thursday night.

Pirates signal-caller Holton Ahlers is a bit of a wild-card, as he only completed 8 of his 21 throws last weekend against ODU, but 2 went for touchdowns, and he did have over 200 yards passing. Looking for him to ride the emotion of a primetime game at home to a solid performance.

Keep in mind that Temple's ledger has been built at home. In their lone road game this season, they lost as the double-digit favorite at Buffalo, and the Owls do have a higher-profile home game against undefeated Memphis at home on the 12th due next.

Owls are too good on defense to lose this game, but I think this impost is a few points too many to comfortably lay away from home.

East Carolina gives the Owls a run for their money tonight in Greenville.
