It was 8 weeks ago the Eagles went to New Orleans and were completely embarrassed by the Saints, losing 48-7. And it wasn’t so much the score that bothered the Eagles as much as the lack of class and respect the Saints showed that day. Let us take you back to that day – The Saints were up 38-7 and sitting on the Philly 37 facing a 4th and 6 mid-waythrough the 4th quarter. The Saints not only went for it but they threw a bomb for a TD, a play that stirred up someobvious emotions by the Eagles players and coaching staff. Even worse, later in quarter, after a failed 4th down conversion by the Eagles on their own 39-yardline the Saints brought the starters back onto the field and they continued to push the ball, clearly looking to score again. This fueled the emotions of the Eagles defense who made a stance, forcing a 4th and goal, and the Saints kicked a FG to make it 48-7. After the game the Eagles players andcoaches were very vocal about that sequence of events and made a vow to NEVER FORGET! Remember, this IS THE NFL, professionally paid athletes where things OFTEN GET PERSONAL! And today the Eagles get their chance for redemption on the same field in front of the same fans. That game was not only the worst performance of the season for the Eagles but it also was the remedy for the Super Bowl hangover they were suffering during the first half of the season. The Eagles went on to win 6 of their next 7 to get here today and this spells trouble for the Saints! And if motivation and revenge don’t concern the Saints, perhaps the fact they are facing a MUCH HEALTHIER Eagles team should! And even worse for the Saints is the fact their offensive starters haven’t played agame in 3 weeks! This is never good for a unit that relies heavily on chemistry and rhythm, things you can only get at game speed. We always say the worst thing for high powered offenses is TIME OFF – it is always the momentum killer! Bottom line, we have a healthy Eagles team led by the better coach, a QB playing the best ball of his career, a highly motivated team seeking revenge and 6 PERFECT TRENDS (99-0) backing us, specifically one of our favorites involving certain road dogs of 4 or more points seeking same season revenge – THIS is the recipe for our Playoff Game of the Year!Comment
