4 Unit Play. #828 Take Green Bay -5.5 over Cleveland State (7 pm ESPN 2) The Horizon League has come down to a three team race with the winner of the conference tournament taking it all in this one bid league. Green Bay has not lost a home game this season and I am confident they will win this game straight-up. If I think that will happens it puts us in good shape to cover the spread as well. The Phoenix could have won at Valparaiso last Friday had Keifer Sykes done anything in that game. He is the best player in the conference and he rebounded on Wednesday with a 23 point performance against Detroit, a team that just beat Cleveland State. The top two seeds in the Horizon League receive byes and thus this is a playout game and the loser will likely get the No. 3 seed and have to win three games to make the big dance. Green Bay has covered 7 of their last 10 home games
Doc 3-unit Play Take Boston Bruins/St. Louis Blues UNDER 5 (+110) (8:05pm EST) Big measuring stick game here tonight between the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues. Both teams are in the middle of the playoff race in their respective conferences, but both teams have admitted that they are capable of playing much better. The Bruins have really struggled of late losing five straight games. Most of that falls on the shoulders of the defense and goalie Tuukka Rask. Boston has allowed at least four goals in four straight games and they haven't played a very tough schedule of late. I have a feeling coach Claude Julien will have his team focused on the defensive end tonight after being embarrassed over the last week. St. Louis has been winning with defense of late, so I expect a tight low-scoring game tonight between these squads. Boston usually slows down the pace significantly against tough teams when they are on the road. Take the under tonight.
Yes, the Spurs are old...but they've quietly been turning into the team from years past in terms of winning. Last night they did lose (we bet the Clippers actually), and tonight this is an over-reaction to that game. Tonight, the Spurs know how important the famed "Rodeo Trip" is to their season and will give it their all. As always, watch this as Popovich likes to sit players last minute...but tonight I think the Spurs come out swinging and let's remember the Warriors also just limped into the All-Star Break.
INDIAN COWBOY (NHL) 2-Unit Play. #56. Take Under 5.5 Goals Buffalo vs. NY Rangers (Friday @ 7:05pm est)
Let’s roll with the Under here between these two squads as we look to bounce-back from yesterday’s tough loss after a 1-0 start to the contest. Note the last time these two teams met the final score was 5-1 and the Rangers routed St. Louis and that likely changes here this evening. Look for St. Louis to step up on the defensive end in a quality bounce-bac effort against this team with revenge behind their home crowd. Note Buffalo is to the Under 9-1-1 over the last 11 contests and 3-0-1 over the last 4 games against teams with a winning percentage over 60% and note that the Under is 22-8-8 when the Rangers faces teams with a losing percentage of 40% or lower.
DOC SPORTS (NBA) 3-Unit Play #804 Take Philadelphia +8.5 over Indiana (7 p.m. EST, Friday)
Philly has covered in six of the last seven meetings, and we think they make it seven of eight tonight. The Sixers did give up on their season a bit in getting rid of last season’s rookie of the year at the trade deadline, but this team has been playing hard lately and we see no reason for that to change now. And Indiana is just not a team deserving of laying this many points on anyone in the NBA, no matter how bad the opponent. Philly is 6-0 ATS in their last six home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four against teams with a losing record. The bookmakers lined this game like the sky is falling in Philly, but we think this team has some upside in the second half of the season and we think this team will keep playing hard and covering big lines like this. 4-Unit Play #808 Take New York +6.5 over Miami (7:30 p.m. EST, Friday) 4-Unit Play #807 Take Miami/New York UNDER 181 (7:30 p.m. EST, Friday)
We expect a close, low-scoring game here. Both teams are pretty lousy. Of course, the Knicks are the worse of the two teams. But the Heat should not be favored by this many on the road against any club. The Knicks, of course, shut down Carmelo Anthony. But with him out of the lineup for good this Knicks team can concentrate on the fundamentals of basketball and should play together more as a team. This team has been covering a lot of lines lately, and tonight should be no different. With such a low total and for us thinking this one will go under this low number, that makes the points all the more valuable for the dog. These teams played before the break and it was a pretty high-scoring game. But it is very telling that the oddsmakers didn’t adjust their totals number, and that makes the under a strong play as well as Knicks on the side play. 4-Unit Play #809 Take Chicago -6 over Detroit (7:30 p.m. EST, Friday)
The Bulls are a team we think will really come on in the second half of the season for the playoff push. This team is streaking big time and has won four straight, including a demolition of the Cavs on TNT right before the break. The Bulls are a great road team at 19-9 on the season, and they have a winning ATS record on the road as well. They have played very solid defense during this recent run, and we think that momentum from before the break carries over here. The Pistons have been big underachievers this season, and we don’t see them being very competitive in this game against a motivated Chicago club. Chicago has dominated this series ATS and is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 meetings in Detroit and 20-8-1 in the last 29 meetings overall. 7-Unit Play #816 Take Milwaukee -7.5 over Denver (8:30 p.m. EST, Friday)
Denver is a team that went into tanking mode at the trade deadline, and we think this lousy team will be mostly one to go against down the stretch. The Bucks are rested back at home, and this is the No. 2 ATS team in the league this season. This is a great team to bet on because they are under the radar and even when they cover many numbers the bookies don’t adjust the numbers a lot because public bettors still stay away from this team. We thought this number should have been a lot larger than this, and we expect a double-digit win from the home team tonight. These teams are polar opposites in the fact that the Bucks play hard every night while the Nuggets are big underachievers. Milwaukee plays strong defense and the Nuggets don’t shoot well, and this is a recipe for a blowout win for the home team, who entered the break strong winning three straight and eight of nine. Should be some extra motivation from the Bucks tonight, too, considering that Denver has an eight-game winning streak in this series. But this is the strongest Bucks team in that time and the worst Nuggets team, and we think the home team rolls. 4-Unit Play #826 Take Golden State -7.5 over San Antonio (10:30 p.m. EST, Friday) 3-Unit Play #825 Take San Antonio/Golden State OVER 209 (10:30 p.m. EST, Friday)
The Spurs played a high-energy, high-scoring game last night and we don’t think they have enough weapons to stop Golden State in this game. The Spurs defense will be useless tonight, and we see the Warriors picking their own score tonight as this team is rested and should be firing on all cylinders offensively. We think the pace here is very fast, and while the Spurs try to keep up on offense they just will not be able to match the Warriors point for point. We don’t see any reason why the Warriors can’t get over 110 tonight against this tired Spurs club, and the fast pace will allow the Spurs to top the century mark as well. But there is a great chance that Golden State wins this one by double-digits, and there is always the chance with Golden State that they can get in the 115-120 range as this team does so often against teams that don’t bring their A Game defensively.
