Larry Ness' 10* LEGEND Play-CBB ('signature' release!)

My 10* LEGEND Play is on Oregon St at 4:30 ET.
Washington surprised almost all by opening 11-0 but followed by losing FOUR straight. A three-game winning streak followed that but now it’s another downward trend for the Huskies, with FOUR losses in a row. The recent four-game slide began when Washington released the 7-0 Robert Upshaw (10.9 points, 8.2 rebounds & 4.5 blocks per game) from the team on Jan 26. The 6-10 Jarreau (4.8-4.6) has been sidelined by a knee injury as well, and the Huskies have only eight scholarship players currently available. Guard Williams-Goss (15.4-4.8-6.1) is a terrific player plus fellow guards Anderson (12.9-4.1) and Andrews (8.1-5.8) are solid. The 6-9 Kemp (10.0-3.7) has to be labeled an underachiever (guard Andrews leads the team in rebounding a 5.8 per) and without Upshaw and Jarreau, Washington has employed a five-guard offense at times.
Oregon St fired Craig Robinson after six seasons last year. He took the school to the CBI title in his first season but had just ONE winning season in SIX. When three players with remaining eligibility left school last spring (including leading scorer Nelson at 20.7 PPG), Robinson was done. Taking over is Wayne Tinkle, a 6-10 former player who in eight seasons at Montana led that school to three NCAA berths (2010, 2012 and 2013). Only two returnees averaged more than 11 minutes per game but both of those guards, Morris-Walker and Duvivier, are starters this season and contributing nicely. JC transfer Gary Payton Jr is thriving at his father’s old school, averaging team highs in points (12.5) and rebounds (8.2). The 6-10 Schaftenaar (9.1-3.8) and the 6-7 Reid (8.2-2.9) complete the starting-five. Robbins (10.3) comes off the bench in the backcourt and is second to only Payton in scoring. The guard trio of Morris-Walker, Duvivier and Robbins (supporting Payton) contributes just a shade under 30 PPG.
Washington attempts to snap a four-game losing streak and sweep the season series when the Huskies visit Oregon State for a Pac-12 game on Sunday. Washington prevailed 56-43 over Oregon State on Jan 15 in Seattle as Mike Anderson scored all 11 of his points in the second half and Andrew Andrews chipped in 12 points off the bench. Nigel Williams-Goss is the only player in the program’s history to average more than 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and six assists in a season but he has played all 40 minutes in FOUR of the last five games. Without Robert Upshaw and Jernard Jarreau, the Huskies are in trouble. Despite shooting a season-high 56.6 percent from the floor, Washington lost 78-74 loss at Oregon on Wednesday.
Anyone think the Huskies will anywhere near 56.6% again? Washington comes in shooting 45.4% on the season (31.5% on threes) and takes on an Oregon St team allowing 56.6 PPG (12th) on 36.8% shooting (6th), including 28.0% on threes (8th). Yes, Oregon St’s high point output in 10 previous Pac-12 games this season has been just 66 but note that the Beavers are 6-4 SU in those games and in the six wins, would be a PERFECT 6-0 ATS if all of those contests were played with this low of an opening number. Even forgetting that (some may feel it’s a stretch), note that Oregon St is a PERFECT 13-0 SU at home (10-2 ATS), as its outscored opponents on average, 65.4-to-52.0 PPG! No stretch in that stat!
