                Harry Bondi's Prop Bets

                TEAM TO RECORD FIRST SACK
                New England (-140)

The average fan will question why the Patriots are the heavy favorite here simply because Russell Wilson is much more mobile than Tom Brady and the Seahawks' defense is known for its ferocious pass rush. But the truth is, the Pats rank fifth in the league in sacks allowed per game (1.6 per game) while Seattle is 21st (2.7 per game). Brady is the master of getting rid of the ball and sensing pressure, so in reality laying the -140 is a cheap price.

                UNDER 4.5 RECEPTIONS (-125)
                Brandon LaFell
                New England

The biggest mismatch in this year’s Super Bowl is the stellar group of defensive backs from both teams against the below average group of receivers on both sides and that leads us to our next two prop best bets. LaFell could very well draw Richard Sherman on most snaps in this game, which means even if he’s open, he won’t get many looks from Brady. He only went over 4.5 catches eight times this year, so we’ll play the odds and expect another under on Sunday.

                UNDER 4.5 RECEPTIONS (-125)
                Doug Baldwin
                Seattle

Using the same reasoning as above, look for Baldwin to draw Darrelle Revis quite a bit in this game and after throwing four interceptions in the NFC Championship Game, we don’t expect Russell Wilson to take many chances with his throws in this game, especially considering Baldwin’s sketchy performance against Green Bay. Baldwin only went over 4.5 catches in seven out of 18 games this season and we’ll call for another low output in Sunday’s Super Bowl.

WILL TOM BRADY THROW AN INTERCEPTION
                YES (-150)

Take away the Patriots’ meaningless regular-season finale game against the Bills when Brady sat out the second half and the New England QB has thrown at least one interception in six of his last seven games. We all know how fast and aggressive the Seahawks secondary is, which has helped them cause at least one turnover in 15 out of 18 games.

                LONGEST FIELD GOAL MADE
                Over 44.5 yards

Not only do we have two very good kickers with big legs that will be kicking in perfect conditions, but we also have two head coaches that have complete confidence in them. Seattle’s Steven Hauschka was 11 for 17 on tries from 40 or more, while New England’s Stephen Gostkowski was a stellar 13-for-14 from that range. Neither coach will blink at trying a long field goal on Super Bowl Sunday and if they do, their kickers’ percentages are top notch.

                SHORTEST FIELD GOAL MADE
                OVER 25.5 yards

While both head coaches have complete confidence in their kickers, they also will not be afraid to go for it on fourth down deep in opposing territory – unlike Green Bay’s Mike McCarthy! With two of the best QBs in the league going against two very average red zone defenses (Pats are ranked 11th, Seattle is 20th), expect both teams to be aggressive inside the 10 yard line, which will minimize the chance of short field goals being attempted.

                OVER 60.5 YARDS
                LeGarrette Blount, New England

The Seattle defense doesn’t have many weaknesses, but if there is one it’s when you run straight up the gut at them. And if we know that, you can be sure as hell that Bill Belichick does. Blount has gone over 60.5 yards in four out of seven games since joining the Pats. In the games he didn’t go over, there was a 58-yard output as well as the Ravens playoff game when the Pats didn’t attempt a rush in the second half because they were going against a weak Baltimore secondary.
