    The curious case of Akiyama.

Loses to Leben, gets a fight with Bisping.

Loses to Bisping, gets a fight with Sonnen.

Sonnen drops out, gets replaced with Marquardt?

If he loses to Nate does he get a title shot? What the hell?

      For real.

He's a pretty exciting fighter. They should milk that shit and give him a few non-contenders that he can chew up. Then after he gets a few wins, give him a higher level guy again.

Looks like this will be a do-or-die fight for him.

I would say Sexyama has a shot if his cardio wasn't so horrible.

Where do you guys see the Rashad line going? I want to make a bet on Rashad, but I am not sure if it is going to get better or worse.

^ His line has stayed in the +140 to +155 range... It is at a high point now. I don't think it will get any better personally. A lot of people think Rashad is going to win. I would not be surprised to see it drop closer to fight time. But I am pretty horrible about gauging public perception. I can usually spot a line that is "off" but once the line is set, I am not good about guessing which way it will go.

Usually a good reference to find out on which way the line is going to move is to look on sherdog or mmajunkie's forum. as soon as there is a post on a certain fight, look who the majority of the people are picking. Casual fans and ''casual'' gamblers doesn't care how high is the line. If they think that a fighter A is going to win, they will bet on him either he is at -250 or -500.

Even more of a reason to bet on Rashad, he is training hard.

What do you guys think of Sexyama/Marquardt? Everyone is saying Marquardt wins, and I admit I was one of them at first look at the fight, but I am only judging that on Akiyama losing his last 2 fights.

I think Akiyama can beat him if he shows up in good shape with something resembling a gameplan. I don't know what the chances of that happening are though. Maybe he doesn't give a shit if he loses. I would think pride would make him train. I don't know if Dana would cut him, he is a big star in Japan. I would think they would keep him because of that. He also puts on great fights. Star + Good Fights = No cut. Most likely anyways. We'll see. I probably should have jumped on him at -180.

Imagine if Akiyama trains like hell and comes in and beats him. Nate would probably be undervalued from then on.

I really don't want to see Akiyama go, but if he loses to Marky Marqurdt (and I really think that he will) he'll be 1-3 in the organization. I think it will be very difficult for Dana to keep him.

It's not like he's been losing to Anderson Silva and Okami, either. He's lost to Leben and Bisping, and took an extremely narrow SD against Alan Belcher. Those guys are all good fighters, but they're not great fighters.

I really hope they DO keep him and then give him a fight against someone like Jason Day or some shit like that just to get him a win. But I really think this is Sexy's exit fight.

Rashad Evans' new manager MalkiKawa tells me he has a minor sprain in his knee, nothing to keep him out of UFC 128.
