    Re: Boxing thread plays

^^ agreed. My wife is actually pretty cool as far as wives go too. She lets me have my bjj time and doesn't give me shit about that. She was even cool with me quitting my job to start my own office, but she also knoew that I had a steady stream of income (because even though I am self employed, I get a solid chunk of work from another lawyer).

But she does not support "gambling"- you can't explain Expected Value to a woman who is not mathmatical nor a gambler... so I find it best to just wait. I was going to spring it on her when I have a chunk large enough to impress her. The upside, for me, is that I have never had to reload once. I built my stake from $600 to over $10k in just a few years. Then I cashed out half of it this spring. So I am rebuilding again, which is a big part of why I have been uncharacteristically aggressive lately.

But I agree, women love them some stability.

First off, that's some crazy shit that your wife doesn't know that you're doing this shit, especially at your stakes.

Second, I know we've touched on a it a little, but I would like to know exactly how you went from $600 to $10K. I mean, it's taken me a year and half to go from about $700 to $900.

                Re: Boxing thread plays

After watching many videos of both fighters this week there is no way I'm betting Pascal and might even throw something small on Hopkins.

Pascal throws wider punches that are no no against a slick counter puncher like Hopkins .Even at 45 I still think Hopkin's hand speed is faster than Pascal's and with Pascal throwing wide puches that should leave plenty of openings for B-hop to land clean punches.

I've also heard alot of talk about how Hopkins cant win a decision in Canada but when looking at the scores of Pascal's last fight with Dawson two judges had the fight scored 106-103 for Pascal. I personally had the fight scored wider than that for Pascal so the judges werent favoring Pascal .

The last thing I disagree with is Hopkins cant keep up with Pascals work rate .While that might be true if the two fighters were just going back and forth trading punches the whole fight that wont be happening tonight . Hopkin's can neutralize a high output puncher with his counter punching (ask Pavlik) . If Hopkins is landing punches early in the fight it will cause Pascal's punch output to go down for sure.

Hopkins must really think he can beat Pascal or he wouldnt have taken the fight in Canada. Hopkins ducked Chad Dawson forever but the second Pascal defeated Dawson B-Hop couldnt wait to fight Pascal .

I might play Hopkins +180 tonight or Hopkins by decision @ +317 tonight

I just disagree with most of it. I thought the fight with Dawson was about even. And if you read around, most writers seemed surprised the judges had Pascal ahead by that margin. most of the write ups I read after basically said the fight was closer than the judges scorecards showed.

I think comparing Pascal to Pavlik is a big mistake. Pavlik is a slow plodder, something Pascal is not. Pascal is actually more like J. Taylor. And Taylors speed alone is what got him his 2 wins against B-Hop. And that was a much better and more active B-hop than we have today.

As for B-Hop ducking Dawson. According to B-Hop, it was Dawson who was ducking him, and would not pay him what he deserved for the fight. Pascal really just does not get much respect, Dawson and the media barely gave him any respect...and after he beat Dawson(who most thought was a P4P best), he still does not get much respect. I liken him to Froch. They both seem to get little respect because of their perceived flaws.

Thats cool ,we dont have to agree on every fight . I was really looking for reasons to bet Pascal tonight but just couldnt find enough arguement to lay
-225 . I could be way off but this is how I see the fight going down tonight. I'll only be betting .5 to .75 units tonight . GL man

                      Re: Boxing thread plays

BHop 1.25 units to win 2.375

Really dissapointed that I didn't jump on this fight weeks ago when the line had a lot more value for The Executioner. I've been in a rut lately with boxing since the Pacquaio "Win by Decision" ticket I cashed(Maidana L, Abraham blowoushutoutt, passing on Judah's W), in what has turned out to be a great month or 2 in boxing. I am going a little bit bigger than I would have normally for this fight, b/c I had some $ set aside to bet Klistschko by KO last week which was canceled.

Anyway, as for the fight, I think BHOp's bullying and smothering ways take it tonight. I don't think his height or reach advantage will factor in, but the experience edge is something I do feel can be a differantiator.

Pascal is a good fighter. He's in his prime. I just think the old man gets it done tonight. Yes I am worried about a home crowd bias with respect to the judges, b/c there is no way this fight doesn't go to the scorecards. I just hope the "ooohs" and "ahhhs" and excitement of the crowd, even as Pascal misses, which BHop will make him do, doesn't sway the 3 ringside judges. I hear it's a sellout with over 16,000 fans expected, impressive. I've watched Bute fight, and the Canadians do love themselves some boxing. Pascal's following isn't to that level yet IMO, but it's only a matter of time.

Watch for some dirty boxing, a rough fight, and BHop to frustrate Pascal and earn the decision W.

                      Enjoy.

I can get Hopkins straight at +205 and by decision at +317 still deciding which one I'm taking .
