I think the first film didn't do quite as well as the studios were hoping. It only barely made back its production budget domestically. But I think it has done well enough to get the sequels greenlit.

Yeah, a lot of it is bullshit . . . though I do think that some of the larger points of the "ancient alien" (a.k.a. "ancient astronaut") position are at least thought-provoking. On this same note, season 1 was a lot better than any of the subsequent seasons. They are pretty much reaching as far as possible at this point.

Oh I'm not disputing the fact that it's at least a plausible notion by now with the position that civilizations across the globe were all building the same shape for temples, and that similar imagery had been used for idols and figures of worship. But I don't necessarily buy into the whole "there can't possibly be any other explanation OTHER than extra terrestrials" bit.

The major hole in things is that they go on about the pyramids of ghiza being in direct alignment with orions belt or whatever and how they are perfectly symmetrical in a straight line or whatever, is that it's all predicated on the assumption that our science/math is universally correct. Supposing there are actually advanced lifeforms out in the galaxies, to assume they haven't found a truer method for doing things is preposterous. I mean, they DID travel through space to come here in the first place didn't they?

I basically take the position that I don't believe anything . . . but I'm open to everything. Within reason, of course. I mean, I really don't think that the earth sits upon an endless stack of turtles.
