      INDIAN COWBOY................
      TUESDAY'S COMP RESEARCH:

Weekday football in non-popular conferences are always fun. This game features the quarterbacks of Rusty Smith who has thrown for four touchdowns and five picks for Florida International and Joe Craddock who has nearly thrown for over a thousand yards. Craddock has passed for five touchdowns and thrown three interceptions. Craddock has also completed over 65% of his passes while Smith has completed under 50% of his passes. Florida Atlantic team beat this Middle Tennessee State team 24-17 at home last year easily covering the -2.5 spread that was placed on them last year. Thus, Middle Tennessee State does have revenge as they roll into this game. Of course, this is a nationally televised game and 66% favor the home team here. Florida Atlantic has played the much tougher schedule thus far as they have covered five out of their last 7 games. Fla Atlantic has lost to Minnesota 3-37, Michigan State 0-17, Texas 10-52 but did beat UAB handily 49-34. Middle Tennessee State is the same team that upset Maryland at home as they won by 10 points as an outright 13 point home underdog. However, they followed that up with back to back straight up as well as cover losses to Arkansas State and Kentucky. Granted, they played Kentucky very tough and lost 14-20. Note, that I took them when they did play at Kentucky and they were a great dog easily covering the 19.5 spread. As you know Fla Atlantic plays out of the Sun Belt as does Middle Tennessee State. But, MTS did lose back to back conference games, but they could be a different beast at home it seems as they did defeat the Terps. Of course, that was the Terps first road game, so keep that in mind. The Terps also bounce-back nicely learning from that loss as the beat Clemson outright on the road. Fla Atlantic is a passing oriented team in some respects as they are top 50 in the nation in passing yards and 105th in rushing yards. Their defense is top 110 in the nation as they are top 90 in passing defense and top 110 in rushing defense. Middle Tennessee State has a great passing attack thus far as they are ranked top 20 in the nation in passing but around the top 120 in rushing. Thus, they are a passing oriented team as well. Their defense is around the top 75 in both passing and rushing as well. As per the play for this selection, I tell you what - both teams come off back to back losses, Middle Tennessee State does have revenge and to me they are the better team, yet the public is riding them to the tee here. If anything I lean on the favorite here, but something tells me that the better play might be the over given this short spread as the oddsmakers expect Fla International to do well here. But, it is Middle Tennessee State that beat Maryland outright at home, played Kentucky very tough on the road and has revenge here. If anything a lean on the over here.

      TUESDAY COMP PLAY:

Florida Atlantic/Middle Tennessee State Over 48

For the full research, please read above. But, long story short, both teams are passing oriented teams as they are both top 50 in the nation in the early going in passing yards. Note, that Middle Tennessee State is actually top 20 in the nation in passing yards and they have revenge in this game from last year's loss. The game should be extender as both quarterbacks and coaches enjoy airing the ball out. Both defenses are also out of the top 70 in pass defense. The line indicates that Florida Atlantic should be competitive, after all, on a week day football game with over 66% of the public backing the home favorite, the line is under a field goal. This is indicative of a road team doing well and consequently a possible over. After all, Fla Atlantic did have a bye week last week and they are 4-0 to the over after a bye-week. The over is 5-2 for the Blue Raiders when they play a team with a losing record as well. The over is the comp pick today. gl.

          Minesota at Chicago - Over

The weather is expected to be cooler in Chicago, however trends suggest runs should be scored. The Chicago White Sox are 14-4 OVER in home games vs. a starting pitcher like Nick Blackburn who strikes out three or less batters (Avr. score total of 12.3 runs). The Minnesota right-hander and his teammates are 7-0 OVER in road games when playing against a team with a winning record this season (Avr. score total of 11 runs).

Florida Atlantic +3 over Middle Tennessee State
First off let it be for the record that this is a Tuesday Night Game and if this game were on a Saturday it wouldn't be touched with a ten ft poll. Both teams really have struggled this year with the only bright spot coming when Middle Tenn State beat Maryland. Maryland obviously didn't show up for that game and since then has played very well. FAU has most of their offense back this season and was supposed to light up the scoreboard. That has not happened yet and QB Rusty Smith has looked awful so far. Middle Tennessee State is having the same problems. Bad offense and Bad defense. This game really comes down to experience. The Middle Tennessee State offense is very young. I would have to give the edge to FAU because they have a unit that played well together last year and their QB is a lot better than MTSU's QB. The coaching edge also goes to FAU's Howard Schnellenberger. Coach Schnellenberger has coached at every different level and will have his team ready for an important Sun Belt Conference matchup. Take Florida Atlantic.

Chicago has gone 4-0 OVER their last 4 home games and they are 4-1 OVER vs. the Twins with John Danks on the mound. 5* Sun Belt Conference GOTY on FAU +3 The FAU Owls beat Middle Tennessee 27-14 a season ago and return 19 of 22 starters on both sides of the ball from that team. After getting beaten up on at Texas, Michigan State, and Minnesota in the early going, expect the Owls to really bust out against a weaker opponent here - just like they did against UAB in week 2. FAU went 6-1 in Sun Belt play last season, winning the league, and I fully expect this team to repeat with Offensive Player of the Year Rusty Smith under center. The Blue Raiders are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games while the Owls are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 conference games. The Owls are also 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. FAU's offense averaged over 30ppg and over 400 yards last season. Now that the Owls are coming up against some weaker competition, they'll start to rack up the points and the wins. Take the points.
