I think NIGHT KISS is a very good choice. Earning some nice money in dirt sprint races. I like the jock on this filly - solid chance to win the affair. Has decent speed figures and has to be considered for a bet for this event. SURE ENOUGH - This filly gets a boost with Delacruz in the irons. Should be used in the exotic bets. TRIBAL SPIRIT - Recorded a sound speed figure in the latest race. Can run another good one in this race.

I recommend you stick with this hot gelding. SIMPLY JACK - This gelding has higher odds on the morning line than the other entrant from the stable of Joseph. Better watch out for this angle.

I like SIR MI TOLEE here. Is difficult not to examine given the company run in recently. Formidable average Equibase Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this horse a solid choice. He has been running admirably and the speed figures are among the strongest in this field. DUNEDIN CAUSEWAY - Paragallo has this colt running well and is a quite good selection based on the respectable Equibase Speed Figures recorded in sprint races recently. Should wake up with Lasix change (on Lasix) today. HABERDASHERY - Look for a respectable pace improvement from this racer who enters with second time Lasix today. If you look closely, this one has some longshot possibilities.

NEXT ON STAGE - I like when a race sets up this way. This filly has the lone pace to bury this field. I like to see consistency in a racehorse. Look at this filly's PPs. Almost always in the money. The Brain taught me this angle. Watch for equines that show good early zip, drop back, then run evenly with a closing kick. This filly is in good form. Finished second on January 7th. YOU'RE FOREVER - This filly's last speed fig is strong enough to prove victorious here, I'll bet on her right back this time around. This filly ran well in her last race but just couldn't beat the winner. Note that she was well clear of the 3rd horse, and looks like a major contender in this field. Falcone, the trainer, shows intent by adding Lasix right here. A positive sign. Earnings per race is something that I believe can be a very key handicapping factor. This thoroughbred is ranked number 1 in this bunch. BY THE GLASS - The morning line odds on this filly are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of trainer Dutrow. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins. This jockey and trainer's animals have been generating a positive ROI. Adding blinkers occasionally leads to a better performance on the racetrack.
Vulnerable Contenders: #6 WAKE UP LAUREN (ML=5/2),
WAKE UP LAUREN - Didn't finish in the money on Sep 17th at Belmont at the Big A. Followed it up with another less than stellar outing. Will be tough for this thoroughbred to beat this bunch off of that last fig. Not probable to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's Equibase class figure, so put her on the likely underlays list.

I give the nod to PLAYER B here. Berrios has one of the best jockey ROI's on the grounds, returning to players +27 percent. Has to be given a shot based on the solid speed rating recorded in the last contest. KHANTARO D'ORO - Shows evidence of the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 89 speed rating which is one of the top in this group. Has run soundly when racing a turf route race. QUINTECENTS - Could best this group here, showing very strong numbers of late. Has quite good early pace and will almost certainly fare quite well against this group of horses in this race.

ZEN STATE - That 72 fig this gelding notched in his last affair tells me he's a key player in today's event. Thomas brings him back again. I propose you stay with this hot gelding. Thomas is giving this one Lasix for the first time. A really smart move. ROCKET RIBBON - This animal has increased his speed ratings from a fig of 54 to 67 to 69 in succession. Gets help from McCanna with the addition of Lasix. CLEAR THE COAST - I like to wager on this angle, a horse coming back off a strong race within the last 30 days. Generally speaking, horses on Lasix for the first time should be considered. That's what we have here.
Vulnerable Contenders: #5 RAMATHORN (ML=8/5), #3 AUTISM PUZZLE (ML=7/2), #4 HALF THROTTLE (ML=8/1),
RAMATHORN - He's almost certainly going to get cooked at the front. AUTISM PUZZLE - Pace makes the race. Tough for this speed merchant to be able to manage the pace pressure from the rest of this bunch. HALF THROTTLE - Can't bet on this runner in today's sprint of 6 furlongs. Hasn't even hit the board in a short distance race recently.

LA CUMPARSITA - The ROI when Beckman and Hester hook up is tremendous. Ran last out against much better horses at Turfway Park. The move down the class scale should suit her well. This mare gets a weight break of -7 pounds from last race. This certainly could make the difference in this race. TRIBAL SPIRIT - When this jock and trainer are put together you have to take a look. Correa and Garcia have been wonderful together. BEAUTIFUL TEMPLE - A thoroughbred coming back this soon after a solid contest is a good signal. You'll be generating profits left and right by turning your gambling cash onto this rider/handler combination. XTRAORDINARYMOTION - Ramos and Minnock partnered together are a horse gambler's friend. This animal didn't run well on a track listed as good in her last race at Mountaineer Park. You should throw out that effort.

The pick in this one is DIVA AMOUR. This contender may have some hidden form, a trip to the winner's circle would be a pleasant surprise. Worth serious consideration here given the numbers in the speed figure department alone. Many horse players will recognize the exemplary TrackMaster SR in the last gathering. COLD CREEK GUERERO is the clear stand out wager in the eyes of the panel of smart guys and is a formidable value-based bet given the 10/1 line. Been squaring off with some tougher customers of late, has a distinct class edge. (Average Rating 79). Hard not to give the nod to RUNAWAY HEIRESS as the top selection for this race and the payoff could be huge based on that 8/1 morning line. This solid standardbred achieved a good speed fig in last race. Looks sharp to come right back. Appears that this fine animal's running style fits well in this race. Definitely will be there at the finish. Don't count out this horse, especially with Thiessen in the race bike. In the top three percentage is tremendous. ITALIA SEELSTER - Comes into this affair with very nice TrackMaster class stats relative to the group of animals - could be worth a shot. Always excellent driver-trainer pair. 24 percent winners when they team up to do work. SOUND BITE HANOVER - Tough to pass on this mare with sharp Coulter in the sulky. Major player for the triumph. If performance in the most recent race is representative, this race horse will have a very really good shot here. High last race speed rating.

By Matt Shifman and Bob EhaltThe $200,000 Lecomte (G3), Fair Grounds – Race 13 – The Lecomte is the second of four stops on the Fair Grounds road to the 2024 Kentucky Derby with qualifying points [20-10-6-4-2] that are available to the eligible finishers. Three horses in the field have already earned some Derby points. (2) Nash is one of three starters in the Lecomte for trainer Brad Cox who already has won three times on the road to this year’s Run for the Roses. He won his maiden in his second start by more than 10 lengths and was third in the Gun Runner at Fair Grounds. The regally-bred Godolphin runner look like a horse that is ready to take a step forward. (7) Track Phantom won his last two starts getting his maiden victory for Steve Asmussen and then picking up 10 Derby points with a pace-pressing effort in that aforementioned Gun Runner Stakes. (5) Ethan Energy broke his maiden at Fair Grounds by more than five lengths going today’s distance last month for Cox with a closing move. (4) Can Group began his career with a pair of thirds at Ellis Park in the summer but then Mark Casse moved him to the turf where he broke his maiden, won the Bourbon (G2), and was a close fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1). Casse won the Lecomte twice. Betting strategy: Exacta key box: 2 with 4, 5, 7.

Race 11 at Fair Grounds | Saturday January 20 | Post Time 6 PM EasternColonel E.R. Bradley Stakes | Purse $100,000 | One Mile and One Sixteenth on Turf | Four Year Olds and UpwardAnalysis and top win contenders:Who Took the Money (6) brings an impressive career record of 10 wins in 19 races into this year’s Colonel E.R. Bradley Stakes, but more importantly he has never finished worse than second in five starts on the Fair Grounds Turf, winning three times. Most of those wins were against horses which were bred in Louisiana, but he can compete in an “open” (not restricted) race like this one, particularly as he’s on a pattern for one of his best races ever. Who Took the Money was away from the races from March of last year, returning in a dirt sprint prep and finishing fifth. Stretched out to two turns, where most of his success had come previously, he missed by a neck in a stakes race then three weeks later on 12/9 he moved to turf and finished fast from eight to get second at the end. Last year at Fair Grounds on turf, Who Took the Money earned 106 and 103 Equibase Speed Figures and now as he improved from a 97 figure two races back to 100 last time out, he’s likely to get back to that level. If he does, he could be very tough to beat considering the two favorites, Beatbox (9) and Strong Quality (2) earned 108 figures when second and third, respectively, in stakes races in their most recent starts. Jockey DeShawn Parker has been aboard for the horse’s last seven wins and rides again. Perhaps best of all, Who Took the Money has gone to post at odds of 5 to 2 or less in his last 11 races, many as the odds-on favorite, but since the public assumes he may be overmatched facing non-restricted company his relatively high morning line odds may hold up which would make him an excellent candidate for a win bet.
Rising Empire (8) also may be a bit overlooked by the betting public, opening at 5 to 1. He returned from four months off in November at a mile on this turf course and won easily by two lengths, with a 108 Equibase Speed Figure as good as the two previously mentioned favorites earned in stakes races around the same time. Last March, Rising Empire led late and settled for second in the much tougher Grade 2 Muniz Memorial Stakes, with a 104 figure. Although he ran poorly when ninth in the Diliberto Memorial Stakes last month, where Beatbox finished second, Rising Empire gets a jockey change to Luis Saez that can only help his chances to return to top form.
Beatbox (9) finished second in that stakes race four weeks ago, rallying from 10th of 12 in the early stages. Rosario rides back and also rode him to a half-length defeat two before that in a stakes level allowance race in October. Although he can win with his best efforts, Beatbox has not won in his last five races and that last win didn’t come in a stakes race either. He’s definitely a horse to use on exacta tickets at the least.
Similarly, Strong Quality (2) is a contender but no standout. He has as many second place finishes (4) in his career as wins, with just one win in his last five starts. Two of those were grade 1 stakes races where he was overmatched. Strong Quality likes to lead from the start and his inside post will afford him that opportunity so he does have a chance to run one of his best races, but then again Brigadier General (3), who is just outside Strong Quality in the gate, could also try for the lead from the start and hurt Strong Quality’s chances of getting the easy lead he likes.
For exactas, we can also consider Protonic Power (1) and English Tavern (5), who finished fifth and third, respectively, in the Diliberto Stakes. Protonic Power was behind a wall of horses turning for home and showed good energy when clear but too late to make an impact, while English Tavern was out finished by Beatbox but still managed to hold third gamely at the finish.

Win: I think we should consider win bets on Who Took the Money (6) and Rising Empire (8) at odds of 3 to 1 or more.
Exactas:
Who Took the Money (6) and Rising Empire (8) over Protonic Power (1), Strong Quality (2), English Tavern (5), Who Took the Money (6), Rising Empire (8) and Beatbox (9).

The only other time the Broncos were a home dog this year the beat a very good Colorado State team by 7 points. SDSU has won 8 of 9 but they’ve been a bit shaky on the road this season. Their one very solid road win was @ Gonzaga, but they’ve also lost @ New Mexico, lost @ Grand Canyon, lost @ BYU, and had down to the wire wins at UC San Diego (won by 1) and at San Jose State (won by 3). The Aztecs are getting outscored by an average of 3 PPG in their road games and they are facing a Boise team that puts up an average of 80 PPG at home while allowing just 61 PPG. If we include neutral site games as well, San Diego State is just 2-7 ATS when playing away from home this season. Extra Mile Arena is one of the toughest venues for visiting teams and Boise had won 23 straight home games before their loss to UNLV on Tuesday. Prior to beating CSU as a home dog this season, the last time the Broncos were getting points at home was way back in February of 2020. Last season SDSU was a step above this year’s squad as they played in the National Championship game. Even with that team, they were not able to beat Boise on the road last season with the Broncos coming out on top 66-60. We’ll call for Boise to win this one at home, as they normally do.

Joey TronI like the Canucks to win this game on the road against the Maple Leafs in a Canadian battle. The Canucks are one of the hottest teams in the NHL winning 7 of their L10 games and are super dominant on home ice. The Maple Leafs are in a slump losing 4 of their L5 games and it will not get any better with them visiting one of the leagues best. The Canucks offense ranks 1st in GPG averaging 3.78 and have the best shooting percentage in the league. The Toronto Raptors are going to be the more motivated team tonight. The Knicks initiated the trade for OG Anunoby and 'got rid' of RJ Barrett and Emmanuel Quickley. Both of those guys are going to want to stick it to the Knicks. Also, the Raptors just traded for Bruce Brown as well and now they are absolutely loaded at the guard position with these three and franchise player Scottie Barnes. The Knicks struggled to put away the Wizards in a 113-109 home win as 12-point favorites last time out and will now be playing their third game in four days. New York is 3-12 ATS in its last 15 home games after winning three of its last four games. Give me the Raptors.

At 8 eastern the NCAAB Comp play is on Eastern Washington-6. The Eagles are quietly one of the hottest teams in the nation having won and covered 6 straight and they are now 10-7 after opening up 0-4. Most of their losses are to the PAC 12. Tonight they take on Idaho St and they have revenge for a loss here last year. Idaho St is off a big win over rival Idaho and could be rip for a let down here and they are 313th n the nation on scoring. Look for Eastern Washington to get the cover. Rob V-
