I think DIXIE FARMER is a strong choice. She has been running soundly and the Equibase Speed Figs are among the top in this group. Conditioner boasts very solid win numbers at this distance and surface. Prominent in earnings per start at the distance/surface in this field of horses. PICKIN ANA GRINNIN - Reason to like this mare as she has in the irons one of the best jocks using winning percentages over the last 30 days. Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this mare. BETISON - Has been running very well lately and will probably be on or close to the lead early on. Has run solidly when travelling a dirt route race.

SKYLERVILLE - Burgos and Klopp perform well when they join forces. It's hard to beat a +34 return on investment for a jockey and handler. JURADICIAL - This horse wins a lot of dough per start. Uppermost in this affair. SOCIAL MANDATE - This mare should be in top form, this far into her form cycle. I like that latest effort on December 20th at Turfway Park where she finished first. Three consecutive improved speed figures (52-68-75) make this thoroughbred a solid contender.

KRISPY RICE - I don't normally play a morning-line favorite that hasn't been to the track in the last 3 weeks. MUSED (GB) - This thoroughbred just hasn't looked fit recently. LADY HAMILTON - No value in playing this racer. Probably won't improve off that Dec 21st affair. Finished sixth in her most recent effort with a mediocre speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch.

My pick in this race is WHISTLER'S STYLE. Have to look at solely on class, with some of the best class figures of this group of horses in this race. Is a strong contender based on figs recorded lately under today's conditions. I like the jockey on this mare - formidable chance to win the contest. HALO CITY - I can't pass on this mare given one of the best rider and trainer combos on the grounds. FREUDIAN - Has a very solid record at the distance and surface, which makes me give my vote to this mare. She has been racing strongly lately while recording strong Equibase Speed Figures.

MUNNY FOR NUTHIN - I like to play horses that faced open company in their last race and drop into state bred races. This gelding fits the bill. I like to invest in this handicapping theory, a horse coming back off a good outing within the last month or so. NOBILIS - Nice return on investment for this rider and handler duo. Lets try to beat the morning-line favorites with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a pretty good race. Sub-par effort last time around the track at Aqueduct was due to the off-going (he ended up fourth). I'd expect a better race in this field with the benefit of a fast track.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 BEARY FUNNY (ML=4/5), #4 WAFLR (ML=8/1), #3 ESCAPE KEY (ML=8/1),

BEARY FUNNY - Will be tough for this racer to beat this bunch off of that last speed fig. Doubtful to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class rating, so put him on the questionable challengers list. WAFLR - Generally I need a sprinter to have some recent success in sprint events in order to play him. ESCAPE KEY - Can't invest in this pony in today's sprint of 7 furlongs. Hasn't even finished in the money in a short distance event of late.

INDULGE - Taking a trip to a lower level; has the class to make his presence felt. CHI TOWN HUSTLER - This jockey/handler duo has been producing a high win percentage, right around 36. When a horse finishes in-the-money as often as this colt does, you will usually want to use him in your exotic wagers. 68-73-78 are last three Equibase speed figures. Improving each time out is something he should do again today. This colt is in good form, having run a good race on Dec 7th, finishing first.
