DESTINY'S JOURNEY - I think the shorter distance will help this filly stay the trip. Cedillo and Knapp getting together are a railbird's friend. Taking a trip to a lower class level; has the class ability to make her presence felt. CHOLLIMA - Atop this horse on September 19th and VanDyke is yet again in the irons this race. Have to make this filly a strong challenger; she comes off a solid race on September 19th. Earnings per race entered is something that I believe can be an important selection factor. This animal is ranked the highest in this field. PERFECT ICE STORM - The Sep 19th race at Los Alamitos (Thoroughbre was at a class level of (83). Dropping down the ladder based on class considerably, so she should be in a good position to win. Jockey and conditioner do well when they are put together. Prat and Sadler have been consistent together. This horse likes to win at different tracks. The switch in venue today may be a wake up call. FLATTERWITHJEWELS - Have to make this filly a win candidate; she comes off a good outing on September 11th. Winless in her last three starts, this filly did win on Jun 4th at Santa Anita versus tougher competition. Three consecutive improved speed figs (46-65-71) make this thoroughbred a strong contender.

We will be taking the TEMPLE OWLS here on Friday night as our College Football Free Pick. I am sure we will be one of many to come in on the Owls as we look to 'fade' Cincy off their big win at Notre Dame. While that is part of the handicap here, we also have to look at this huge number. Probably a little inflated after beating the Irish. Bearcats 2-6 ATS last 8 when laying with this kind of spread. Two years ago on this field, Cincy won 15-13. I know things have changed a bit. But from a 7.5 home fave to 29.5. Temple has covered 5 in row in the series, and half of those were as favorites. Granted the Owls are a powerhouse program. They caught a Memphis stunned Memphis team last week off a loss to UTSA and as 11pt dogs pulled an outright win. Now they get another team, maybe not in shock, but in a spot where they might be reading their own press clippings. With 'better' program on deck with UCF coming to town, I think asking Cincinnati to win by 30 is a tall task. Friday FREE PICK on the TEMPLE OWLS -- Higgs. Friday CFB Free play. My selection is on Cincinnati minus the points over Temple at 7 pm et on Friday.
We haven't faded Temple since back in Week 1 against Rutgers (a game the Owls lost 61-14) but I won't hesitate to go back to the well here as it faces red hot Cincinnati on Friday night at Nippert Stadium. The Bearcats are in an obvious letdown spot as they return home on a short week off a massive win over Notre Dame in South Bend. Instead of a letdown, though, I look for them to relish the opportunity to show out in front of a national audience once again as they take a big step down in class after road games against Indiana and the aforementioned Irish. As I've noted in previous plays supporting Cincinnati this season, this is a team that's absolutely loaded on both sides of the football and certainly worth of CFP consideration as the season goes on. We've already seen the Bearcats win their first two home games by identical 35-point margins this season and while Temple looks like a tougher test at 3-2, keep in mind the Owls victories have come against the likes of Akron, Wagner and Memphis. Last week, Memphis jumped ahead 17-0 early and appeared to have the game well in hand but got caught flat-footed as the Owls took advantage of a leaky Tigers defense to get back in the contest and eventually win by a field goal. Temple won't be so fortunate here. Look for the Bearcats to race ahead and never let up. This lofty pointspread should look pretty short by the time halftime rolls around. Take Cincinnati.
