Barcelona vs. PSG picks (Tuesday, 3 p.m. ET)

    Lionel Messi to score (-137)
    Both teams to score (-200)
    PSG to qualify (-137)

PSG will be without star forward Neymar as it heads into battle with PSG at Camp Nou on Tuesday.

The Parisian club broke the world transfer record to sign Neymar from Barcelona for $270 million in August 2017. He was tasked with leading PSG to Champions League glory, but it has not quite worked out for the French team. It went all the way to the final last season but lost out to Bayern Munich.

Neymar would have relished the opportunity to face his former club, but he suffered a groin injury against Caen last week and is likely to be sidelined for a month. Key playmaker Angel Di Maria also is out, which is another huge blow for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, PSG still will bring plenty of firepower to Camp Nou on Tuesday, including Kylian Mbappe - the second-most expensive player in history - Mauro Icardi, Julian Draxler and Moise Kean. Can they get the better of Barcelona?

    PSG Hopes to Sign Messi

Barcelona has not won the Champions League since 2015, when the fabled attacking triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez powered it to a 3-1 victory over Juventus. Neymar is now on the treatment table for PSG, Suarez is with Atletico Madrid and Messi also wants to leave.

The Argentinean forward, the world's highest-earning sportsman, tried to engineer a move to Manchester City last summer, but a technical clause in his contract forced him to stay put. He is likely to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, and PSG is actually a leading suitor for his services.

It is easy to see why Messi wants to part ways with Barcelona. The club is in financial peril, so it has had to offload key players. New arrivals have failed to meet expectations, and it has suffered a number of embarrassing defeats in recent years.

A 3-0 loss to Roma caused it to crash out of the Champions League at the quarterfinal stage in 2018. It then fell 4-0 to Liverpool in 2019 and suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat against Bayern Munich last season.

    Barcelona Struggles in Knockout Competitions

Ronald Koeman took over as manager last summer, but the job is no longer as prestigious as it was five or six years ago. Barcelona had a sluggish start to the season, but it actually has won seven league games in a row. It is eight points behind leader Atletico Madrid despite having played an extra game, so it is unlikely to win La Liga, meaning the Champions League is possibly its best hope of securing silverware.

Barcelona has struggled in big games this year. It lost 3-2 to Athletic Club in the Supercopa de Espana final on Jan. 17 and then suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sevilla in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg last week. Yet it bounced back by thrashing Alaves 5-1 on Saturday, with Messi putting in a phenomenal performance.

Barcelona's greatest weakness is on defense, with key player Gerard Pique injured, so PSG should be able to score in this game, even without Neymar and Di Maria. Barcelona has a wealth of attacking talent, including Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele, so it also should get on the scoresheet. It is difficult to predict the winner of this game due to PSG's injury problems, so prop bets may offer better value.

      NEW ORLEANS @ MEMPHIS | 02/16 | 7:30 PM EST
      MEMPHIS -1
ANALYSIS: My model says the Grizzlies cover in more than 60 percent of the simulations, so you're getting strong value at this number. Memphis has won two of its last three contests following a four-game losing streak, with both victories being by at least 14 points. The Pelicans are in the midst of a three-game losing streak during which each setback was by 11 or more points. Look for Memphis to avenge its loss at New Orleans earlier this month.

ANALYSIS: My model says the Flyers cover in 70 percent of the simulations, so you're getting strong value at this number. Dayton overcame a halftime deficit on Jan. 30 to post a 67-56 home victory over Rhode Island. Senior G Ibi Watson scored a game-high 22 points in that contest and has recorded 20 in each of his last two outings. The setback at Dayton began a four-game losing streak for the Rams, who have dropped three straight meetings with the Flyers. Expect the slide to continue.

ANALYSIS: Even at 5-9 in the Big Ten, the Terps have a shot at the NCAA Tournament. They started their climb with a 72-59 win over Minnesota on Sunday, and I like them to win by double digits over visiting Nebraska. The Cornhuskers are coming off their first Big Ten win, a 62-61 thriller at Penn State. But they're playing their seventh game in 11 days and looked fatigued down the stretch versus the Nittany Lions, blowing an 11-point lead with 8:43 left. Maryland has beaten Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue and Minnesota twice. Back the Terps.

                        Analysis: UEFA Champions League
This match would have it all if Neymay was healthy and was lacing it up against his former Barcelona. Regardless this should still be a fun match, although I see a big advantage to the home side whom I believe has been playing much better of the two teams.
You can look at PSG's results and argue they have been playing well with eight wins from nine games, but the competition is far from the same. The best team PSG has faced during that stretch was Marseille who didn't even qualify for the Europa this year while they also played against Nice who was in the Europa but couldn't make it out of the group stage. In fact, Ligue 1 is so much weaker that PSG is the only representative of the league in the final 16 while Lille is the lone survivor in the Europa.
Meanwhile La Liga has four teams qualified for the UCL final 16 plus another three in the UEL knockouts. While Barca is eight points behind Atletico in La Liga who are having an incredible season and winning all the close games, they have the best xG numbers in the league by a long shot. They are averaging 2.32 xG per game, the only team over 2.0 in the league and have the best differential at +1.20 per game while the next closest is Sociedad at +0.85.
Barcelona and Messi especially looked great this past weekend easing past Alaves 5-1 with Messi netting two while PSG scraped by Nice at home winning 2-1 and clearly are struggling to create chances and they simply do not look like a team that will go far in this competition. No Neymar and no Di Maria is leaving Mbappe all bottled up.

The NCAAB Comp play for Tuesday is on Tulsa at 7:00 eastern. Tulsa has lost 3 straight here at home but should handle Temple here as they have revenge on the Owls and have covered 40 of 59 vs .400 or less opponents. Tulsa is 6-0 straight up and ats at home vs Temple. The Owls have lost the last 4 and are off a pair of close losses on the road and look like a team that could be flat and get beat good here. The road team has failed to cover 5 of 6 in the series. Look for the Owls to get swept away by the Hurricanes tonight. On Tuesday the Northeast conference play of the year headlines along with an NHL Platinum Supreme Totals Play and a Champions League Soccer side. See us on facebook to jump on.
