Here’s our best bets for the action ahead:
Atlanta Braves @ Cincinnati Reds
A big sixth innings helped the Reds snap their horror run in claiming the opener of this series, but it’s not enough to have us believing their quite out of their slump yet. The Braves will send veteran Brandon McCarthy to the mound hoping to stay perfect behind the 34-year-old. He’s allowed no more than two earned runs in three of his four starts this year and owns a very respectable 2.91 ERA on the season. Another steady showing should again be enough to set the team up for victory as the Reds send Tyler Mahle to the mound. The youngster hasn’t had a great start to the year and confidence is key to any young pitcher in his second season in the majors. He’s allowed 12 earned runs on 26 hits in his 21 innings pitched and could have a tough time trying to contain this Braves lineup. We love the value on Atlanta here and if our projections are back on point we should see a comfortable bounce back from them

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Philadelphia Phillies
This is a great value spot for Arizona and one we simply can’t pass up. Robbie Ray will take the pitch for the visitors as he looks to stay perfect on the new year. He’ll also be hoping he can continue his teams recent dominance in Philadelphia where the D’backs have won seven straight by a combined 37-14 score line. Phillies pitcher Vince Velasquez has got the better of this Arizona line up in the past and while we’re weary of his performances after his thought start we still have a nice lean given the underdog status for Arizona here. We’ll stake small on a great bit of value in this one.
