    Today's Winner...
100 Dime release on the Texas Rangers and Rich Harden as the road underdog against the Chicago White Sox and Mark Buehrle. You must specicfy both starting pitchers in this game or else the selectnon is null and void. As I release this play around 10 PM Eastern on Monday night, the Rangers are around a +110 underdog.

Looking over this match up, and then analyzing the line, I've concluded its simply too easy to play the White Sox here. You can throw whatever stats you want at me (more on that later), but Vegas is trying to tell us something with this number. That something is this is going to be a much tougher match up for the Pale Hose that meets the eye tonight at the Cell.

The first question that comes to my mind is why is Mark Buehrle only a modest favorite in this spot? He's got a stellar record at home againnt Texas (7-2, 2.55 ERA), is coming off a game where he threw only 36 pitches due to an ejection, and is facing a Rangers team that's struggling (1-6 L7 games). He doesn't even have to face Nelson Cruz, who went on the DL with a hamstring injury. Fishy to say the least.

But the answer lies with Buehrle's counterpart, Rich Harden (2-1, 5.14 ERA), who has been inconsistent at best, but has fared very well in this specicfic spot. When Harden gets 6 or more days of rest, he's been great, going 10-5 with a 2.66 ERA in 28 starts! He's also enjoyed plenty of success against the White Sox, going 4-3, 3.19 ERA in 8 career starts. Harden will be looking to bounce back of an ugly start in Kansas City, and you couldn't ask for a better situation.

For all the flak the Rangers have caught during their current slide, their offense is still far and away better than the White Sox. They're batting .282 over their L10 games, and average 4.3 runs per game against lefties on the season. Anyone who follows the White Sox knows their offense is average at best, ranknng in the bottom 3rd in batting average (27th), runs scored (23rd), and OPS (25th). They're also just 11-13 at the Cell this season.

The White Sox may seem like a "lock" at this price with Buehrle on the hill, but they're anything but. Texas rebounds behind a rested Harden tonight at the Cell. Rangers (Harden) over the Chi. White Sox (Burhrle) Tuesday.

          Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

          Streaking

Johnny Cueto (5-1, 3.25 ERA), Cincinnati Reds

The Reds righty has been simply magic during the club's recent hot streak. Cueto has won four straight starts and hasn’t tasted defeat since April 24. He’s allowed just three runs in his last four outings, most recently going six innings, allowing just three hits, in an 8-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even more impressive is the fact that Cueto is missing his slider due to a blister on his right hand. He is expected to be back at full strength against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday.

Nick Blackburn (6-1, 4.28 ERA), Minnesota Twins

The Twins right-hander has won five starts in a row heading into Tuesday. Blackburn hasn’t lost since April 11 and is coming off a strong showing against the dangerous New York Yankees lineup, allowing just two runs through seven innings in an 8-2 victory last Thursday. Not only is Blackburn getting the job done but Minnesota’s lineup is backing him up, scoring 57 runs over his nine starts this season – the most for any pitcher in the majors.

          Slumping

Brian Matusz (2-5, 5.76 ERA), Baltimore Orioles

Matusz’s last win came way back on April 18 against the Oakland A’s. Since then, the lefty has gone 0-5 in his last seven starts and is coming off a rough couple outings heading into Tuesday’s date with the Yankees. Matusz lasted just over two innings, giving up seven runs on May 20, then served up six runs in five innings against Oakland last Wednesday. He did, however, settle down in that outing and could be turning things around.

Wade LeBlanc (2-3, 3.71 ERA), San Diego Padres

LeBlanc’s command has been off and on since joining the Big League club in 2010. In his last start, the left-hander gave up four runs including two home runs on nine hits in just over five innings of work. The start before that, he was rocked for eight runs in just three innings, serving up two dingers. He hasn’t won since an eight-hit shutout on April 29 and had a 5.81 ERA in May, despite starting the month strong.

"I think more than anything it was the lack of not getting the ball in good spots," Padres manager Bud Black told MLB.com following LeBlanc’s latest outing. "Today I saw the ball elevated more than I have all year. There was not enough quality strikes down in the strike zone."

              --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Play On: Oakland w/Gonzalez vs. Lackey
Note: When Gio Gonzalez matches serves with John Lackey in Boston tonight he will do so knowing he is 3-0 in his last three team starts with a super sharp 2.34 ERA. On the flip side, Lackey has been lousy with 16 walks and 14 strikeouts in his last four starts, while compiling a 6.36 ERA in that span. Back the better arm as a value dog here tonight.

We recommend a 1-unit play on Oakland.

                Karl Garrett

                Tuesday's Selections ...
Highest-Rated MLB 30 Dime Americnn League Game of the Year goes tonight on the LA Angels with Joel Pineiro over the Kansas City Royals and Brian Bannister. I also have a 10 Dime Bonus Best Bet for you on the Philadelphia Phillies with Cole Hamels ocver the Atlanta Braves with Tim Hudson. Remember, both listnd pitchers must start, or no action on the release(s).

After back-to-back walk-off wins over the Mariners, the Angels came to Kansas City on Memorial Day, and made it look easy in their 7-1 win over the slumpnng KC Royals.

KC has now lost 3 in a row, and 6 of their last 9, while the Angels have ripped off 3 in a row, and 5 of their last 6.

I will give you the fact Brian Bannister is currentcly pitching better than Joel Pineiro, but the Angels are now 10-1 against the Royals since last season, and they are also 9-2 their last 11 games played at Kauffman Stadium.

Plus, the Halos have been able to get things going against Bannister, as Bannister's last 2 starts against the Angels have seen 9 runs score in just 14 innings of work for an 0-1 mark

Maybe the Royals hit Pineiro, but based on the series numbers, I feel quite confident that the Angels will battle back and win another against the Royals.

My 10 dime bonus best bet is for the Phillies to snap the Braves 6 game winning streak with the underdog win

Atlanta has taken over a 1/2 game lead in the NL East thanks to the Phillies current power outtage, and Atlanta starter Tim Hudson is 5-1 on the year, but that 1 loss comes against the Phillies back in April.

Philadelphia is also 4-3 still in the season series, and starter Cole Hamels is starting to pitch much better, and while I don't see the Phillies bats lighting up Hudson, I do see Hamels and Hudson going toe-to-toe with Philly just edging the Braves for the nice underdog win.
Remember: both listed pitchers must start, or NO action on the release(s).

                  Tuesday winners ...
My 15 Dime play is on the Angels, and make note I am not listing either pitcher. As I release this play at 9:30 a.m. eastnrn, the line is -105 pretty much everycwhere here in Vegas and offshore. I don't anticipnte much change in the line, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't shop for the very best line possible.

My 10 Dime Bonus is on the Reds

                          LET'S BREAK THIS BABY DOWN

Texas is really struggling right now as the Chi Sox will tune them up tonight Tu~esday. The Chi Sox Strong Lefty Mark Buehrle has an 11-4 record and 3.02 ERA vs. the Texas Rangers. The Rangers are a terrible bet on the road as the Rangers CAN'T SCORE. The Texas Ace Rich Harden (2-1, 5.14) has a 9+ ERA the last 2 games. Texas is a full fade team right now. With N Cruz on the "D L" and the Rangers not scoring runs we will play on the Chi Sox tonight
