    11 *CONNECTICUT over Syracuse
    Late Score Forecast:
    *CONNECTICUT 38 - Syracuse 13

Now that UConn is back on track following the mid-season stabbing death of popular CB Jasper Howard, Huskies have the postseason in mind. And 5-5 Connecticut can become bowl eligible with a victory in this one. RBs Jordan Todman (956 YR) & Andre Dixon (844 YR) pound defensive fronts relentlessly, and in all kinds of weather—an important consideration at this time of year in the east. Jr. QB Zach Frazier needs to control his interceptions. But the fired-up Huskies are stepping down in class after facing WV, Rutgers, Cincy & Notre Dame, all likely bowl participants (and three of the four on the road)! Rutgers took depleted Syracuse for granted last week; UConn (8-1 vs. the spread!) not likely to make the same mistake.

    10 MARSHALL over *Utep
    Late Score Forecast:
    MARSHALL 38 - *Utep 26

With demoralized 3-8 UTEP finding different ways to lose (try 3 fumbles in 4th Q vs. Rice!), expect muddling Miners to drop their 5th straight TY vs. upbeat, chemistry-rich Marshall, which became bowl eligible for 1st time since 2004 in 31-24 victory vs. bowl-bound SMU. Miner HC Mike Price is not optimistic about the season finale when lamenting, “I thought playing superior teams early would make us a better team down road. It didn’t. We didn’t do better in November. We played teams we can compete with physically and we’ve blown it.” Conversely, the Herd has shown resourcefulness by producing season highs in both yards & points vs. the Mustangs, with backup RBs Martin-Ware & Edwards-May (combined 249 YR) admirably filling in for injured star Marshall, and blossoming 6-3 frosh TE Dobson (4 catches for 127 yds., 2 TDC) creating mismatches like sidelined Slate had done for years. Plus, Miners just 11-12 SU at home last 2+Ys, while Herd has covered 4 straight away.

    10 *WASHINGTON over Washington St.
    Late Score Forecast:
    *WASHINGTON 45 - Washington St. 8

This is our last chance to recommend against Wazzu, and darned if we’re going to pass it up. Cougs simply non- competitive in Pac-10, with final margins solely dependent upon whims of the opposition. And sources say angry host U-Dub aching to make a statement vs. hated rival after galling defeats in last two Apple Cups and series of frustrating near-misses throughout ’09. Pac-10 sources report last week’s “bye” did a world of good for Husky QB Jake Locker, whose bruised thigh needed a week of rest. And Jake and the remainder of U-Dub’s “O” will feel like they’re on a date with Megan Fox when facing a depleted Wazzu “D” that was down to just 13 scholarship players and forced into unnatural 3-4 alignments in last week’s latest beatdown administered by Oregon State. Cougs, not closer than 26 in last 5 games, cannot count on any mercy from rival Huskies.

NINE-RATED GAMES: MISSOURI (-5) vs. Kansas (at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO)——Tiger defense not totally reliable, but Jayhawks in turmoil and have lost eight in a row vs. the spread...TCU (-43) vs. New Mexico—Rowdy Horned Frog defense will never let up with outright Mountain West title, undefeated season, and likely BCS bid at stake...TROY (-10) at Louisiana- Lafayette——Trojans a money-maker when in Sun Belt play; 20-6-2 last 28 vs. spread...

6 Unit Play. #69 Take Oklahoma State +9 ½ over Oklahoma (Saturday 12:30 pm FSN) Rivalry Game of the Year. Both teams could be playing without their quarterback for this game. However, QB Robinson will likely see action. He did dress last week but was held out since they were playing a weak opponent in Colorado. QB Bradford has been out for most of the season and the Sooners are just not explosive with him out of the line-up. 1st and Ten. The Cowboys have a lot more to play for in this game as a win here will likely mean a BCS bid. Coach Gundy and his seniors have never beaten Oklahoma but this is the first time they have better talent. The Cowboys are really playing defense this season and have not allowed a 100 yard rusher all year. They currently rank 6th in the nation in rush defense.

Being blown out last week against Texas Tech leads some to believe that the Sooners have packed it in for the 2009 season. I do not believe that is the case, but the Cowboys will give them all that they can handle. Ok State 24, Oklahoma 21.

4 Unit Play. #80 Take Houston -29 ½ over Rice (Saturday 8 pm CSS) I realize that this is a lot of points to be laying in a cross-town rivalry game. However, this year’s Cougars completely out talent the Owls. Granted, Rice has played well the last two weeks. They did beat UTEP but were outgained by 150 yards.

Houston will be looking for revenge after losing, 56-42, in 2008. That loss kept Houston from winning the CUSA West. QB Keenum threw five touchdowns last week and looks for more of the same in this affair. Houston gets close to sixty and we collect in the process as well. Houston 56, Rice 20.

4 Unit Play. #95 Take Arizona -3 over Arizona State (Saturday 3:30 pm ABC) Normally would not go with a team coming off a heartbreaking game that kept them from going to the Rose Bowl. But this is a state rival and the U of A will have no problem getting up for this game in Tempe. ASU lost to UCLA last week and that made sure that they will be home for the holidays. Speaking of staying home, the injury report for the Sun Devils cold fill up a roster. Parlay that with the fact that Arizona is still not solid at quarterback and it is hard not to like the Wildcats. Arizona still has a chance to go to the Holiday Bowl and look for them to easily put away their rivals. U of A 28, ASU 20.

      Strong Opinion Plays:

Saturday NCAAB System Club Play GC

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Saturday the System Club play is on Pacific in college hoops. Game 533 at 4:00 eastern. Pacific owns all the stats in this one. They shoot and defend better than San Jose St. Pacific is 26-9 vs teams with a losing record and has won 8 of the last 9 in this series. When taking on non conference teams they have won 24 of 34 times including their last five. San Jose St is a terrible 4-12 ats as a favorite, including 0-3 at home recently. When taking on teams that have a winning record they are 8-20 and a paltry 14-42 vs teams who play good defense and allow 64 point per game or less. Pacific is the way to go in this one.
In late phone action I have the Double System NCAAF Blowout game of the year today,as well as a 19-1 non conference system, the Triple system outright dog winner, plus 2 more 90+% college football Winners and a BIG 24-1 College Hoops game of the month play. On Friday we Cashed both Big College football games and the Big NBA Blowout winner. The Big November run continues with this solid Guaranteed card you wont want to miss. Jump on at goldencontender@aol.com Most games are late afternoon and the big one goes at night. For the Saturday system Club play take Pacific in college hoops action. BOL GC

Karl Garrett 50 DIMER - FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES 50 DIMER - FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES

I'm sorry, but with all due respect to the Gators and their #1 ranking, this is just too many points to give the Seminoles.

Florida is on a 5-game series win streak, and they have covered the last pair, and 3 of the last 4 when hosting the Sems, BUT you saw Alabama struggle to get by Auburn on Friday, and I can definitely see the Gators getting by in this game, but struggling with this big impost. Prior to blasting Florida International, the Gators were just 1-4 against the spread their last 5, all as double-digit favorites.

State is 3-1 against the spread as the dog this year, 14-7 their last 21 as a pup, and on a 7-4-1 spread run on the road their last 12 games. This is the largest impost a Bobby Bowden coached Seminoles team is catching since his 1st season in Tallahassee!

Can you imagine if the Seminoles were to win this game outright?

No, I can't either, but I can certainly see them scoring enough to stay inside of this ridiculous impost.

            Take the points.

                            Arkansas (+3') at LSU

                            Jeff Benton

Scored a 6? free-play winner with Illinois plus the points at Cincinnati on Friday. For Saturday, I’ll stay in College Football and take Arkansas plus the points at LSU. If I’m still shocked at the way LSU blew that game at Ole Miss last week, how do you think the Tigers are feeling? Down 25-17 with less than four minutes to play, LSU battled back with a touchdown, missed the game-tying two-conversion, then recovered the onside kick and had a chance to pull off the upset. However, coach Les Miles completely mismanaged his timeouts in the final minute, so when QB Jordon Jefferson completed a Hail Mary inside the Ole Miss 15-yard line on fourth-and-long with one second to play, LSU couldn’t keep the clock stopped after the officials’ timeout to reset the chains. Then came the damndest thing I’ve ever seen: Rather than rush his field-goal unit on the field or instruct Jefferson to take a shot at the end zone– again there was one second on the clock! – Miles told his QB to spike the ball!

I’ve said many times that I’m not a Les Miles fan, and what happened last Saturday should explain why that opinion is warranted. And with the Tigers’ season having completely unraveled the last six weeks (3-3 record after a 5-0 start), I’m not expecting much effort or emotion from the home team. At the same time, Arkansas is finishing the season strong. The Razorbacks have posted four consecutive double-digit wins (victory margins of 36, 17, 36 and 21 points), going 3-0 ATS in the last three. Since the calendar flipped to October, the Razorbacks are 6-2 SU and ATS (and one of those losses was a 23-20 setback at top-ranked Florida – a game Arkansas should’ve won!)

The Hogs have taken control of this rivalry, too, posting back-to-back upsets of LSU. In 2008, they won 50-48 in double-overtime as a 13-point underdog, then last year, they rallied from a 30-14 fourth-quarter deficit for 31-30, scoring the game-winning touchdown with 21 seconds left.

LSU is carrying some woeful ATS trends (9-22-1 ATS overall; 3-10 ATS at home, 7-17-1 ATS in SEC play, 1-12 ATS in SEC home games, 3-8 ATS as a favorite, 1-9 ATS in November), while Arkansas has cashed in seven of 10 as an underdog (in addition to six of eight overall). I smell another outright Razorbacks upset in this rivalry, but we’ll take the points just to be safe.
